supercharge or turbo charge?

after reading some of the posts, i realize that getting a turbo is going to be a b*tch. will getting my gts supercharged be less of a b*tch?
Most important question: "which will give the best performance?"

It won't really be less of a bitch because the TRD supercharger won't fit under the stock Hood. Not only that, but it only gives 40-60 whp.(I think)

turbo works with stock Hood and has much better gains. But that depends on how much pressure you have it under and what set up you use.

Dood, both are easy as hell. They are both gonna give you like 400 whp. And you can install them in like 2 hours tops. For best performance supercharge and turbo your car.

the only supercharger for the GTS is made by blitz...and is about 5k for like 30 hp

turbo would give much more power for the same price probably

the only advantage supercharger has over turbo is its an improvement in the whole acceleration/power band. Very smooth, don't have to wait for turbo to spool up. But even tho its a little more user friendly, turbo will get you much more performance. I would like to go that route some day $$$$permitting.

well since you have a 6 spd i say a turbo ull get more hp out of it and you wont have that much of lag on the start off

if you had an auto i would say supercharger since supercharger is instant power and auto need power down low

As I mentioned on the "posts that make my nose bleed" thread...

You're not going to get turbocharger/supercharger. Questions are asked about them ten times a week on the site, and there are two or three actually done. The cost is ridiculous. If you had that sort of cash at 18, I imagine you would be driving a more expensive car, not a stock Celica.

Harsh, but I'm just tired of these posts.

Wow, I think he is kidding...

I am going to go with a Super Charger. Why? Because it is way easier to install...maintain...you don't have to let your car idle before you turn it off (You could also get a turbo timer), Superchargers are also AWESOME for Auto X. In my opinion the Supercharger is the way to go because the Celica was made for handling and not Srait line speed. thumbsup

But, a Turbo will give you WAY more HP.

Um, I am seriously thinking about going with a supercharger. Either that or I am doing a ton to my car to make it run N/A. I have the money to do so and I don't want another car. thumbsup

Instructions? Please don't tell me you're planning to DIY? F/I installations are done professionally. Not only that, before you start boosting you need to make sure your car is properly tunned right.

Lol, im with revmonster, im tired of these damn posts. If you have to ask a question like that, you know nothing about f/i and you shouldnt be doing it to you car. Like revmonster said most people that ask these questions arent really gonna turbo their cars nor have the money to do so. Everyone just wants to turbo their car because they saw FnF, yet have no clue what it entails. I dont mind answering questions, but i want them to be educated questions, not noob ricer questions. Do a search first, most these questions have been asked countless times and answered countless times. Also do some basic research about f/i before asking dumb questions. And yes for those that thought i was serious, my first post was joking.

i really am planning to get either of the 2, just because those other ppl arent serious doesnt mean that im not either. but here is where i understand you and where you got me, yes im 18 and i am not planning to get all of the money by myself, and im not planning to get all the money for about almost a yr ( cry i know but hell its a turbo if i spend money on other mods for almost a yr id still have less performance than what a turbo could give me), but i AM planning to get 1(turbo now thnx to you guys), and its not pointless to post questions, because even if im not going to get one for a very long time, every question that i post will help me from making mistakes that ill regret in the future. thnx again for the insight and i promise not to post nemore n00b questions, srry to all the vets of this site. ecelica rocks! thumbsup

turbo chargin ur GTS will require to many modifications.. i think turbo is meant for GT.. but then again the $$ of the Blitz supercharger is crazy for the 30whp but at least it's more friendlier, and easier on the engine especially on our high compression GTS

the point was that you have no clue about FI... and if you need to ask "whats better?... supercharger or turbo" there's no way in hell you're gonna end up with either...

you need to do some reading...

dont listen to half the fanboys on a forum telling you what they think is better... half the people here dont know shit about cars...

Ok, i will be nice, i think i was in a bad mood. Let me answer. You basically can't s/c your celica. The only option for a gts is the blitz. The blitz s/c is on 3 celicas in the U.S. You can't get it in the U.S. you would have to have it imported from Japan. Then once you have it imported you have to rearrange the engine bay to get it to fit a left hand drive celica. Plus you would spend a ton on tuning as you wouldnt even have a base map to work off of. So you're looking at getting it to the U.S. and then spending like $7000+ between the charger itself, installation and tuning, not to mention any other accessories you need with it. Turbo is basically your only option.

Not everyone who contemplates a turbo is 18 years old and short of cash.

I have posted about turbos and for the record, I am 38 years old. I earn about half a million per year and I guess if I sold my house I'd get about a million for it.

I am seriously looking at a turbo kit that comprises the turbo, intercooler, bigger fuel injectors, bigger fuel pump, custom piping, replacement ECU and Cold Air Intake. And I'm looking into what would need to be done for the exhaust.

The USD$5000 for a turbo is about 3 day's work for me. With respect to all - not all requests for turbo information come from dreamers. Some of us are serious and have the funds to back it.

You miss the point completely, not all posts are from dreamers, but all the posts are from people that don't know very much about their car, and nothing about turbos. The only thing they know is what they have seen in FnF, and those kinds of people shouldn't be turboing their car. Second of all, they should be learning about their car and learning about f/i in general, doing some research, or at least using the search button before posting a very simple question that has been answered countless times.

yes it will cost an a$$load,

you only need to relocate the alternator pulley to underneath the engine smile

the blue supercharged celi with kam front was levi(CI team member), hes up here in riverside for a couple weeks, normally is in SD.
It did cost him quite a bit of money and that was with a partial sponsorship.
Having driven & drag raced his car I have to say it is nice but it has its downfalls.

i have a few questions...with all that money why a celica? you live in a country where you can get a Silvias, Skylines, and every Evo available (Evo 6 TM edition thumbsup) why not get thoughs? the S15 Sil is a 250hp turboed 4 banger...i can gaurentee you if i had as much money as you claim to have, as much as i love my celi, i'd be getting a Porsche GT3 or Carrera GT

maybe because he wants to give other people a shock on the road of what he's celica does with speed on the freeway.

Up here in Australia, 90% of the people think the GTS celica is the same like the 94-99 celica on power, I got a Black 2003 ZR (GTS) and lots of people get amazed when they try to have a go with me on the highway - I even get comments "is your car modified? wow, that celica is quick of yours"

by the way, does anyone know how many kw there are at the front wheels for a stock celica??

Turbocharger "driven" by the exhaust gas energy, means using energy that was not used before.
Supercharger "driven" by the cranckshaft, so it uses energy from the stock HP, but creates more from it.
I hope it is undersatndable.

First off how the fuck do you know there's only 3?, thats the dumbest comment I've ever heard. Turbo isnt his only option. He doesn't have to spent a lot at all if he find the right people. And there are places in the U.S that already have the blitz in stock so you don't have to import. Theres barely any rearranging that needs to be done at all if any. And if you quoting him 7000$ to get it running, a serious turbo will run that much anyways so its comes down to preference.

I'd go with a turbo. You can run it on low power with the stock internals, then start boosting up the power as you reinforce the engine, so it spreads the cost out a little.

To start, it will probably cost you 5-6k I'm guessing, and more as your further the upgrades smile

I've love to go turbo myself, but I need to pay for the car first! wink

Considering that the SuperChargers for The Celica will cost about $6000. Id definately say go with the Turbo and build the hell out of the engine. For 6 Grand you could do a Stafford Turbo, Pistons, Rods, Valves, Sleeves, Springs, and Studs. That be a mean machine.
