Buying Air INTAKE for Friend (plz help), Is this a simple bolt-o

Hi everyone. Just to let you all know I do not own a celica. I have a Maxima. Well I recently installed an air Intake on my maxima, and I showed it to one of my best friends and he really liked it... He has a 91 Celica GTS 5-spd. I wanna buy an Intake for him, just a regular Short Ram one... He is not very mechanically inclined, so I wanna get something simple, plus I dont wanna mess up his car trying to put it on.
So is there any simple "bolt-on" Intakes for a 91 Celica. Something that will let us switch back to the stock air-box Intake when its time for smog, and something that does NOT require any cutting or shaving of his current Intake/Intake tubes.

I seen these on ebay:

They say that it will fit 90-99, but didnt the model change?? Or does the engine stay the same?? Once again, this is for my friends 91 GTS.. Please help me choose the right Intake for his car.. I wanna make him happy.. And right now the only reason we are not going Cold air, is because 1) 2 much $$ 2) I dont want him to kill me for blowing his motor due to water (which i know is very rare)

Go there and look under engine to find the way to install the Intake you want. I dont have one cause I just got my car but I have heard its not a dificult process at all. Its one of the most common "bolt on" upgrades Ive heard of. Id also recomend TPR but how much are you planning to spend. It sounds nice and all to buy ur friend an Intake but TPRs are $180. To me thats a good bit of money to just GIVE to ur friend, but thats just me.

Welcome to EverythingMaxima.com wave rofl

Performance parts, its simple. Don't buy off eBay. Especially don't buy "eBay" Intakes. thumbsdown

Most Intakes (SRI or CAI) require minimal car knowledge and a little bit of work. You don't need to cut or shave any pipes. Thats why ECelica has install guides posted to help you out.

If your Intake has a CARB sticker on it, it won't affect emissions, so you don't need to swap it out for your airbox during smog tests. I recommend AEM or Injen.

You're not going to hydrolock the engine unless you submerge the pipe in water. If you get a heat/water shield, you should be alright. Make sure your wheel well plastics are intact so the wheels don't kick up water. If you don't want a CAI, SRI are a bit cheaper, but for performance, have your friend save some $$$ and get a CAI! thumbsup
