Oil Catch Tank

I was wondering if this was worth it. I saw a "TRD" one on ebay and wondering if it would work. I read in a later post that The PCV hoses get clogged over time. Wondering if this would fix the problem. If this is a good idea can someone point me in the direction on how on earth to install one?

Thanks guys

It wouldn't keep the hose from getting clogged, but it will keep your Intake system clean, and keep your Idle Air Control valve from getting clogged (which results in a bad idle). When you get a catch can, make sure the inlet and outlet are as far apart from each other as possible (preferrably on the top and bottom). The longer it takes the oil and gas vapors to go through the can, the more they condense, and the less will get through to the engine. Tossing some stainless steel scrubbers into the can will help condense the vapors quicker, too.

ok here, So which port is to which hose. I assume it goes in through the top and out through the bottom. I want to install something like this because my idle has been fluctuating rapidly lately and I want to totally prevent that problem

you're sure you need that to take care of your idle problem?

well I guess I don't, but I don't want to clean the IAC shit. which I am 90 percent sure is the problem. It only does it maybe once or twice a week. Also, this couldn't hurt to install it, it's deffinately good for any car unless I'm corrected

If that can isn't baffled, it's gonna be pretty useless. The inlet and outlet are right next to each other, so the vapors will just be sucked straight through. BTW, don't pay over $50 for a can like that, even if it does have TRD etched into the side.

It will prevent it from occuring again. The IAC gets clogged with gunk leftover from the PCV system. If you add a catch can, all that stuff will go into the can instead of the Intake system and IAC.

Its a good idea, I have seen the inside of the Intake of my old motor & it had a lot of oil in it that it sucked from the top end of the motor.

I bought one of those cans from Motoraz and when I got it the inlet and outlet holes were not drilled or tapped. I sent it back to him and have not received and new one yet. Be cautious about purchasing from him.

Anywhere you can fit one. wink The inlet and outlet hoses are attached to the PCV system, the thick hose coming from the top right of the valve cover (the one with the removable valve, not the other breather outlet attached to the valve cover).

I saw one from Greddy at the shop today. It looked tempting (don't know if it would fit) and it didn't look like the normal Greddy oil catch can after seeing pics. I'm sure it would work good along with a new K&N filter (hard to find) and the shift knobs, etc, etc...Priorities first.
