i was just wondering if anyone on here had ever had there heads port and polished, and if so, what sort of gains did they get (i'm not talking new valves). i am looking at buying a 6spd that's been port and polished and wondering if it's worth the extra bucks

If you get cams and valves, the P&P should be more effective than on a stock engine.

Did he say who did it? Would he happen to have a flow-bench test printout of the results? Christian, you know of cams for the GTS?

with the pnp ur going to need the apex pfc to utalize all the power since ur going to be adding more air into the engine
i've been changing but you'll never see me now now i'm blaming you for everything

Christian, you know of cams for the GTS? They're on the schedule for TPR next year.

I think he's talking about camshafts, not just gears. OBX makes a cam gear for the GTS which you can only use for the exhaust shaft. Somehow I knew the intake w/o CEL & boggin' would come up.

Somehow I knew the intake w/o CEL & boggin' would come up. Well, it's the truth. If your stock ECU can't handle just an average intake, making airflow even faster isn't gonna fix it (it could even turn bogging into a CEL). But if your car is running fine without bogging using a good intake, then P&P won't push the AF ratios over the edge (the ECU will still be able to adapt), and it will free up some power.

sure it is. he was giving the usual "the pfc will optimize your upgrades" no harm in that. keep on promoting great products!

LOL, no, he wasn't saying it would optimize the performance, he said you "NEED" it for the car to work properly, which is completely false. I'm getting a P&P head installed right now, and if you needed the PFC, then I'd kinda be screwed. But I know that you don't, since the head won't make anywhere near as big of a difference in flow as an intake does. What I'm saying is, if you have a good intake, you won't need the PFC to add a P&P head, or even a free flowing exhaust. If you don't have a good intake, you'd need the PFC with just the intake by itself to correct its incorrect readings (before you even think about a P&P head). Either that, or you'd have to live with bogging and/or decreased performance.

LOL, it's silly for us to interpret his writing which IS unclear, but more than adequately leans in my direction. He does not say that the PFC is needed for the car to work properly. That is your inference. EuRoBoYGT: with the pnp ur going to need the apex pfc to utalize all the power since ur going to be adding more air into the engine "need the apex pfc to utilize all the power" he's saying that tuning with a pfc would provide the best gains, and DOES NOT say the car won't run properly without it. "since ur going to be adding more air into the engine" this is simply a true statement indicating that the flow was indeed increased from a decent pnp. obviously if the air flow wasn't increased, a pfc wouldn't be better than the stock ecu. I think TPR has done an excellent job with its intake, and other products just created waiting to be released. And what you said about boggin' and p0171 were correct. Christian, no need to be defensive. It was in jest, yes, but I'm still right.
