well, i was re-wiring my neon in the hood scoop. I was absolutly retarted and i touched the + and - wires. I didnt know they were touching and before I knew it, I had a melted wire in my dashboard. Now my speedo/tach doesnt work, nor does the back lights of any of the gauages or cluster, nor does my cd player or my clock or my cigg lighter. I checked all of the interior fuses and they all look good. All of the fuses in the engine bay appear to be good as well but i may be wrong. Can anybody please, please tell me what is going wrong with my car??

Your fuse didn't blow? Hmm how did you have it wired? Did you have the wires power connect directly without it being fused? If all that stuff went out try to track where you lead the wire. It could've probably melted something in it's way while you had your electrical burning up. You may have fried a board, wire, or possibly anything were the wire was traveling. thumbsup Takes some pics post up the damage. I can just smell those wires fried "ouch"

glad its fixed!!! THIS is why you disconnect the battery when playing with the electrical stuff, and make sure everything is exactly as you want it before you plugh things back up and start the car

yeah i remember wen me and my friend had to change his window washer fluid bottle from the left of the engine bay to the right. that shit was a pain because his dumb ass connected the positive to the negative, and the negative to the positive. and his horn started to go off, we didnt know wtf was going on till i saw how he connected the battery, i slap him in the head and changed it, after that it worked but he had blown a few fuses, and his gauges went crazy wen he turn on the car, he got it fix at the dealer, but we found out that one of his fuses had blown because the window washer blades or wat ever you call it didnt work ether. we had to check every single one of his fuses to find it, sorry is so long just had to tell my story

i had a very similar problem happen in my car...damn near melted the whole thing. If you melted the wires that went to your radio and backlights you definately need to bring it to a dealer. I had melted all the wires for aftermarket sufff that i put in myself...so i only had to re-wire that stuff. All in all the job took me three days...good luck

Any time you are doing something electrical on your car you should dsiconect your battery.

people, read this and absorb it into your brains. this is the first thing you do whenever working with the electricity of your car, I.E, neon, air intake, ETC.

or how about this, just disconnect your battery before working on your car. thumbsup
