Alright, any of you guys with a CAI have a problem with the pipe part of it rubbing against the frame of the car? Im sure you know what I am talking about. By the wheel well. Well i discovered it when I was changing my fog lights this weekend and I found that my pipe part of the intake has a skuff mark and the black top coat is sraped away. Worries me because im affraid it could lead to a whole in the intake. And is that bad?? But I remedy'ed it by putting some pipe foam around the part where it rubs, and a piece of rubber on the frame part of the car. I even tried adjusting the damn intake, but on the part where the vibra mount goes and it has that lil groove for to bolt down the intake, it wont let me adjust it because of thats in the way? I need some help or info? Any takers please? thx

if you have your plastics intact then yes. theres really no way around it coz there is little room for the intake. i have seen intakes that actually have holes due to the rubbing

I think he thought that you meant the plastics, but you meant the metal.

What type of intake do you have?

If it's AEM, then I may be able to help you.

Ah, I see that you have Injen, right?

I know that with my AEM, there was a rubber mount that attached to the intake higher up than where yours is rubbing. It prevented it from curving towards the frame.

Did yours come with a type of support like that?

Sorry to be a post whore, but did you install this rubber piece that is circled, and is it being utilized by the piping?

I would think that it would give it some support, and keep it straight.

Yeah, it should connect to it somehow. I don't know what the deal is with Injen though, I bought AEM.

All of the AEM CAI-s touching the frame there. As it was said before, use a thick plastic cover there to prevent the intake from more demage. A hole will let dusty air in, so its deffenatly not good. Also AEM filter gets dirty fast, you gotta check and clean it quite offten. Covering the plastic holes on the wheel side helps a lot.
