I wanted to get an intake for my car, I was planning to get an Injen short ram but to my understanding, Getting this will decrease my performance for my lower rpms??? I dont really care if I get any more horse power.. i'm happy wth my GT i'm not a racer, I just want the sound. So will gettin a short ram hurt the performance in any way?

I love mine too, also got a heat shield. Didn't hurt performance, maybe helped a tad over 4000 rpm, but it sounds AWESOME

The CAI actually hurts your low end power more than the short ram but it makes up for it in top end power, if you don't really care about gaining a lot power up top, then go with the short ram... I've heard no complains about it thumbsup

Injen is a nice intake some problems people run into though are the welded brackets that clamp onto the engine bay that is suppose to reduce vibration to the intake. The SR bracket snapping off goes the same with CAI. Short ram is good if you don't care about HP and want some performance. SR also prevents hydrolock if your car was ever submerged in water. since it is a shorter intake. Other than that it will not hurt your performance it is a good intake.

If you install it correctly and keep up with normal maintenence such as cleaning the mass air flow sensor (MAFS), filter, intake pipe, it will keep you from having problems or throwing cell codes in the long run. Throttle response it better than stock and as for sound it has a nice deep sound when you floor it and sweet woosh when you turn off the motor. Nothing "sucks" better than an Injen.

I don't think it's possible to lose power, from an intake that isn't made up somewhere else confused Maybe I'm wrong but...anyways, the Injen SRI is awesome. Had it for over a year now in really f__d up weather too and no problems, no CELs and that's even with my monkey-ass install. Like they said, get a heatshield. thumbsup

Both are only true for the GTS. For the GT, the power gain is pretty linear with either a CAI or SRI.

Injen's own dyno for the GTS shows their CAI losing an unacceptable amount of low end:

Heatshields barely reduce heat, since they don't seal off the filter from the engine bay. The hot air rises, and the heatshield only shields the bottom, so it won't stop hot air from reaching the filter at all. At best, they protect the heatshield from radiant heat. That is, until they heat up. wink

this is all a ploy to get us to buy TPR intakes, right wink j/k

well..the heatshield looks pimp, and it keeps all that water and snow that creeps through my Invader hood from dirtying up my intake so it's good in my books.

I purchases an Injen SRI for my 2003 GTS and attempted to install it this afternoon. I believe that Injen sent me the SRI for the GT instead of the GTS. The tubing and trottle body boot that I have are black instead of red. Also, the trottle body boot is too small to fit over the trottle body. Any comments guys?

The difference between GT and GTS intakes is that either the throttle body end of the pipe or the silicone coupler will be angled. The GT's throttle body is angled upward a bit, while the GTS' is straight to the right. That's the only difference between intakes (piping is even the same). You might need to stretch out the silicone coupler to fit it over the pipe and the throttle body, but that's actually a good thing since it will hold the intake on much better than a loose coupler

The silicone coupler is reinforced with woven fibers. Do you really think that there is it can be streched? I need at least another 1/4" to fit ove the trottle body opening. Also, should the aluminum tubing be able to slide into the trottle body? I was under the impression that it should be the same outside dimension as the trottle body.

I jsut installed a RMM intake with RMM heatshield. I dont knwo if it blocks heat any better then injen vbecasue it coves more area. I covered the heatsheild ont eh top with carbon fiber so it looks sweet. Only problem is when it heats up get that smell of fiberglass or clearcoat smell. Hopwe it wont burn wink anyones opinion? Love the sound. Had to get a different coupler, def didnt want to go on, was reinforced, had to push the bitch for a few min and try to pry it on. SR all the way smile
