Any of you guys have problems with the hatch door constantly coming down on your head when your looking for stuff in the trunk. The car has 70000 miles so I'm guessing they've never replaced the shocks that holds up the door so they are worn out, or are the shocks just bad quality.
does it only do this when its cold out? i have the same problem. im told you can replace the shocks to support more weight. toyota makes the shocks that are used for the trd wing. so those would probably do the trick. otherwise you could go to pepboys or autozone and probably pick up a pair.
Toyota gets those shocks from tokico that also make shocks for the suspension. They are not bad just worn out. I would take it to toyota and see what price they are looking for or you could find a pair of shocks and do the install yourself.

Just don't get the same shocks as your suspension. You'll look like an asshole first time you open your hatch, as it rips off the back end and flies over your hood.
Cold weather eventually impacts the hydraulics in the supports...this has been a problem since the advent of the hatchback! Also probably why the auto industry eventually went to the metal support stem for the hood as well.
Life is the sexually transmitted interruption of an otherwise peaceful existence...
