I bought this car in 1983 and have kept it in perfect condition for over 20 years. It hasn't seen a winter or rain storm in 15 years and is absolutely beautiful. Paint was refreshed about 8 years ago and the pictures speak for themselves. Interior is clean with NO cracks or damage. The drivers seat has some wear. The engine compartment and underbody looks like a 2-4 year old car. The car has 175k original miles on a 22R engine that doesn't leak or smoke. This car has a MONZA exhaust with headers, 15" alloy rims
with V rated Michelin performance tires (with plenty of tread left), Bilstien shocks for a firm sports car ride. Brakes have just been replaced, including calipers, rotors, master cylinder and brake hoses (since rubber ages). The front roll bar bushings have also just been replaced. The car also has a brand new fuel pump, recent oil pump, front main seal and sump gasket (no oil leaks at all). Radiator is uprated. Working AC, moon roof and an Alpine CD player with 100watt amp and upgraded speakers.
This car is in Massachusetts (Westboro/Milford area) and is a daily driver. The body and chassis makes for a perfect project car, but the engine and drive train is still excellent and allows this car to be used as daily transportation also. I have driven this car almost every day this summer and no problems.
My goal is to get this car into the hands of someone who will keep it going as a collector. This car drives great and can easily be driven to locations outside of Massachusetts if desired. It also passes Mass state inspection, so it is a daily driver. This car is in excellent condition. This might be one the best condition 1982-85 model year coupes in the area.
Asking price is $1,750.
VIN is JT2RA63CXC6070015

tomh@net1plus.comWhen the body was repainted ~8 years ago. At that time, all body moulding, lights, bumpers etc. were stripped so the car would be painted in all area, including those covered with moulding etc. The bumper frames were also painted and hardware, screws etc. were cleaned of any rust and dirt before re-assembly. The rear deck lid was replaced before the car was painted since it had rust (a very common area of rust formation for this model year). The left side wheel arch had some rust through and was cut and repaired with a new metal section (section shown in photos). This work was performed by the body shop and painted the car. The chassis and engine compartment is similar to that of a car less than 5 years old. There are several chassis and lower panel pictures that show the condition of the body. Since the car has been garaged and not driven in winters for the past 15+ years, its chassis wear is similar to that of a 5 year old car, when it was removed from all weather use. The body has no dings or dents and paint is excellent. In total, there are 4 paint chips from use, one on the front of the hood, one on the left front fender, one on the right front fender (typical stone chips) and one on the left rear quarter panel (door). The only one of these that is more than a chip is one on the right front fender which is a slight ding (see photo). These are all minor and typical for any car that is driven at all. The interior is also in great shape, with no cracks or wear on the dashboard, steering wheel or other plastic panels. The drivers seat has some wear and could use to have one vinyl section that was previously replaced to be replaced again. All other seats are in very good shape.
The engine and drive train is solid. Engine starts right up and idles great. It still retains its power and doesn't smoke or leak. The 5 speed transmission shifts great with absolutely no noise (clunks, grinds etc.). The rear end is in good shape with only slight gear whine at highway speeds. The oil pump, front main seal and fuel pump have recently been replaced. The car was leaking oil from the main seal and sump, but this was fixed with the new seal and a new sump gasket.
The suspension and brakes have been meticulously maintained. The shocks are Bilstien high-end shocks providing a firm ride. The rear shocks were a specialty item that I purchased a number of years ago and recently installed along with new rear springs (to get the ride height back to normal). I also replaced the rear-differential cover with a new one to give the car a clean look from the back. The front sway bar bushing have just been replaced and the entire front brake system has been replaced (calipers, pads,
rotors, brake hoses and master cylinder). The clutch master cylinder was replaced several years ago and the slave cylinder was replaced last year. These items, as well as the front main seal are important items since rubber ages. The clutch itself was replaced at around 70k miles but is still working well. The 22R engine has been well maintained and been lubricated with MOBIL 1 synthetic oil most of its life. I am currently running 15W50 oil since the engine is older. The idle is very smooth about 1000RPM. The AC blows very cold and was re-charged the last year it was legal to charge a FREON system (4-5 years ago?). The battery is a couple of years old and is a top of the line die hard.
