Is there a trick to remove a non retractable antenna on a Celica 2000 GT? I thought you could do it by hand but it's in their tight.

Be gentle with it. Use the pliers for the extra force, but be gentle.

Where exactly does it unscrew? at the bottom of the metal antenna.. or the black thing holding it...

Oh it is... The metal antenna snapped off.. Is that where it unscrews or is it the wider black thing around the metal antenna?

If you want a replacement I have a stock 03 screw in lying around that I will sell you dirt cheap. Although I guess you still have to get that old base out at this point.

PM me if you need a replacement.

angryAhhh well Fuck... I doubt i can just replace the antenna because half of it is still in there. Does anyone know about how much it will cost max to replace the hole unit? Then i'm done...

Since you already broke it you might as well go full tilt and crank on it to get it out - assuming you have not done that. When mine used to get stuck before I replaced it I had better luck grabbing and twisting on the antenna itself as opposed to the octagonal base. More to grab onto. Also, if you have some rubber gloves lying around for whatever twisted kinky reason that will help as you twist on what's left of the antenna shaft.

The antenna broke off halfway from the screw at the bottom so it's still stuck in there. How'd you get yours out?

I used vice grips on the silver part of the base that looks like an octagon while also cranking on the antenna shaft at the same time.

that's a good suggestion.. I'm still having trouble picturing what broke.. can you post a pic?

It should just screw out at the hexagon base.

I think I used an adjustable wrench on the silver bottom part. I put a shop towel between the wrench and nut as to not scratch it. You already br0ke yours, but just be careful to not scratch your paint, of course. Tape up the hole temporarily and put your replacement in when you get it.
