Okay guys... many of you know, my Celi is up for sale right now. Currently, I have it listed in both the Autotrader and the Recycler. Also, I have it sitting at the local autofaire from Friday-Sunday every week. Three weeks and no luck yet. I know selling a one-year-old car is always difficult, but can anyone offer advice?

For those of you who bought your Celi used and private-party, where did you look? Want to get this thing off my hands, so I can get a nice ragtop. spineyes

try putting it at a heavy traffic location. At a corner or something. Ask the store if you can leave you car there and offer money.

or trade it in. You will lose some money but be stubborn and it wont be too bad. Plus you can trade for what you want

Hmm... there is this side street right by the freeway where people always park cars with sale signs. I think that I might leave it there this week.

The recycler is a classified paper that comes once a week in the mail out here... I'm not sure if it's online or not.

When posting don't say that your price is firm, state a price but do mention that you are willing to negotiate or even post OBO. Post tons of pictures, people love seeing what they are planning on buying. Have all records ready, or even mention extras that you are going to be including with the car.

Use the word "Only" a lot when mentioning the price of the car.

What I did that helped me a lot was opening up Carfax and post a link of my Carfax record.

I searched for 6 months online before I found mine, even then, I drove 150 miles 2x to get it. There just aren't a lot of low-mileage black GTS around! People searching online know exactly what they are looking for, so be specific in your writeup. If someone is looking for what you got, they'll find you.

The odds of someone in the Celi market luckily driving by your busy location and spotting the car are lower IMO, but can't hurt. A 1 yr old car is the best bargain from a financial perspective, as you've bitten off that first yr's depreciation. Also, if you've made a lot of exterior, you will probly limit the market as well.

celicas don't have a huge market... I had large for sale vinyls stickers on my windows and a for sale sign in my car for 6 months, I had a bunch of kids asking how much I wanted for it but noone was really serious. I even had it listed below private book price. I have found that its very hard to sell a celica if you really need to. The only way a dealer is going to take it off your hands is if your willing to get rid of it for wholesale and trade up to a newer car frown

RevMonster: Get a MR2 Spyder or an eclipse spyder to replace the celica or even a solara.

Put an ad in the newspaper. The only people that are going to call are going to be serious. I ran an ad for my old car and sold it within a day.
