question on stock turbo engines
if a engine comes stock turbo would you have to buy an after market blow off valve to hear the pshhhhhh? or you dont need 2, because see there is this guy that lives around here, he keeps saying he has the faster car around here in VA, his name is trang he has a gt, with a replica veilside kit, he says he can spank me, i know he has AEM Intake and TRD exhaust, now he told my cousing that his car dosent have the stock engine, so i was thinkin wat if he has the 3sgte but then again, my cousing didnt hear a blow off valve wen he was driving next to him, wat are other engines swaps that could be done to a gt to make it faster?
thanks guys

yeah if the engine is stock turbo...you'll need the aftermarket BOV to hear the "pssshht" when the pressure is released like when you let off the gas. Unless you're referring to the noise the turbo makes when it spools up...thats more of a whistle though...i dunno what he might have that will beat you.

2zz-fe IS the GTS engine. Why would you drop one into a GT? You'd have to get a different ECU for that. Should have just bought a GTS. GTs are better for turboing, though. happywink

3s-gte turbo owns me! Supra engines = HOT! grin

Even with aftermarket stuff he has, you'd still rape him with your GTS. I doubt he swapped engines, hes just blowing smoke. The only popular engines I know that would fit are 1zz-fe, 2zz-fe, and 3s-gte turbo. The other inline fours are hard to find. frown

Yeah..if you know for sure that he has the AEM Intake and TRD Exhuast then its still a 1zz motor. If he did turbo it why the hell didnt he get a Blow off? If he dosnt step on the clutch, it might just be an Auto, and your sure to smoke him. No intercooler= no turbo. It might be hiding somewhere! wink Sounds like this guy watches too much Fast and the Furious Movies.

aiite ill start with the hole story with this fucking guy,
he bought a GT (he says he imported from Japan witch is bullshit because i saw his dash board, and he said he did a $10,000 down payment also bullshitting because he works at the movie teather, now i talked to him and he said never get a gt, i said dawg i probably know more then you of course i wont get a gt, then he said all this bs about his car being fast, and he said he ran like a 14.2 at the track stock, and he had an auto then, after we had that talk i started to hate him because he talks so much bs, so i just didnt talk to him, but im really close to his gurl, (he is 21 and goes out with a 16 year old gurl) i know, well she told me that he was going to do something to his car that will beat mine, so i asked him and he first said he was getting a custom made turbo, i didnt talk to him for a wile again, and then i talk to his gurl and she wont tell me wat he has, so i had my cousing go up to him and ask, he did and this guy told him that he can beat, GTS and mustang, 3.5 altimas (wen he said that my cousing got mad and said really race me then, my cousing has a 3.5 altima with all bolts on, so this guy tran bitch out and said he had a exhaust leak, so he didnt race, then the other day my cousing saw him driving and this guy down shifted and guned it, so my cousing said he was aiite and a lil faster then me, so he said wtf do you have, and all he said was my secret is, my car does not have the engine it came with, so im sure its a 2zz with Intake and exhaust. if any of you guys around here in VA know him slap him for me, he drives a dark blue gt with veilside budy kit and his name is tran

Tran... Sounds like Fast and blah blah shit... Why would he buy a GT without a motor.. He would spend more on the putting a GTS motor into the car than if he woulda jsut bought a GTS. 3s-GTE motor is out cause if you got one of them than you have porb. spend around 10k into the engine swap and than your gunna Hear one hella big "PSHHHHHH". I know if i had a 3s-GTE motor i'd stick a greddy type-S on there! If he doesnt have to push the clutch in when he starts the car than he doesnt have a clutch.. He's an auto.. An auto GTS can be beaten by a Good Driver drivng a Manual GT..

I also don't know what Stock Celica can run 14.2.. If you look at New.Celica.org and look at the track times there ISN'T one celica that has reached 14.2- STOCK.. This guy is Bs tell him to come to MN and i'll show him what A GT can do..

Not true.. Normally a stock turbo comes with a diverter valve and even those things can give out a nice sound.. If he is turbo you'll hear it.. All you gotta do before you race is get out and look for front mount or side mount intercooler.. but he might say that it is Hood scoop mount like the WRX's hahahah rofl rofl

Silly Tran rice rice

HAhaha guys sounds like an ass. I wouldnt get cocky unless I got a turboed or s/C celica. I really hate liars like that, i feel your frustration. My cousin is like that with his Integra, hes a damn wanna be racer..he dont even know how to race..hes just has money and buys his parts. He pays me to install them. And then says that he could beat me on road courses. I asked him what heel-toe shifting was and he couldnt give me an answer. grin

i say who cares...if he swapped in a 2zz then he's no faster than you are...same engine mods, unless he's a better driver.

if he has an auto he's not going to beat you, trust me...as much as i love my car, auto gts' aren't fast...last i checked it was like 17s in the 1/4 mile cry

he's probably only lying to get you upset, just don't give a sh*t...he sounds like a punk anyways

yea my friend got a GSR and wanna race me so bad...and his GSR is stock lol. smoke him some day. Hes always acting like he knows his shit and big time racer and stuff... some ppl just dont get it. But yea, you dont really have to hear a BOV for a stock turbo...but you WILL hear the spooling. Plus, the only clutch that doesnt need to be pressed when starting is a auto...so hes BS!

Stock 2nd 3SGTE has MAF system. With stock ECU and a BOV, it will run rich and even stall everytimes the BOV let the air out. Unless he is running speed density (HKS VPC, 3rd gen ECU, or stand Alone), if will be tough to fit a BOV without a recirculation kit there.

However, Celica Alltrac does not come with BOV or bypass valve. It run pretty safe at stock boost and many of us have been over 80k miles on the stock original turbo.

If you don't hear the pssh..., he might have a 2nd gen 3sgte with bypass-valve (MR2 setup). The BPV recirculates the air to Intake route and won't make noise. He might run a water/air intercooler that needs only heat exchanger in the front.

Another possibility is he has a BEAMS 3SGE in there. idunno

(I just quoted you so I can easily reference what you wrote.)

he said he didn't have the stock engine: so...how does that mean he said he had a turbo? ...unless he did say that but you forget to mention it.

AND if he said he has a turbo, consider why he would want an AEM Intake and a TRD exhaust (instead of a custom 3"). You're going to have a custom Intake on a Turbo or have one that comes with a kit (unless of course you cut your AEM etc to make it fit the turbo and keep the CARB number lol...but why do that when you can just transfer the CARB number...) Anyway I am having too much fun and going too far considering the lack of definite information in your original post (maybe it was cleared up by now but I don't have any time to read the subsequent posts.)

I get my kicks on EC.

I have seen a lot of cars that are stick and you don't need to step on the clutch to start it. Early hondas had that.

The only semi-easy swap would be a 2zz. Even that costs more than its worth. I doubt he had the $10k+ in order to swap a 3sgte in it. Sounds to me like ur friend is a ricer and full of ****. Even if he did swap a 2zz, you guys are still equal.

2ZZ-GE, not FE. In Toyota engine codes, G= Performnce and F= Fuel economy.

The Supra was never equipped with the 3S-GTE, they came in older Celicas and the 2nd generation MR2.

Yea I think those rims are hideous. Besides, if he is the type of guy who will go out with a girl 5 years younger than him then he will obviously do almost anything to make himself look or sound cooler than he really is.
Just race him sometime, worst that can happen is you lose, and maybe then he'll actually pop the Hood for you while he brags.

yeah i dont like his rims ether, well i hate lossing but its worth a try, im going to the track today and im back to stock, ill see how i run with my new trani if im still close to 15.2 like my old times wen i had my Intake, ill race him and see wat he puts down. if i lose then ill race him ones i get my TPR Intake and exhaust, i also need to get a new clutch and flywheel, my dealer said my clutch has 10% of live so i cant be racing much now, till i get the TRD one, but ill let ya know wats up, and if you live in va slap him if you see him..

He has a pretty small exhaust for a turbo.. I mean you can run stock exhaust but 3inch would be the best way to go!
