I've been reading a lot of reviews of engine mods, and beyond intakes, they all seem to have one thing in common - you pay a lot of money for a little more power, if you're lucky (correct me if I'm wrong here)

that being said - has anyone ever seen a chip for celica's - I know you can get them for VW GTI's and they add 50hp, (although apperently you can do a lot more with a turbo). I have seen those cheezy resister things on ebay, but I know those don't really work either - has anyone ever seen the real deal?

One more time, ecu chips dont work for the celica. The best way to go if you want full control of everything is the PFC, but its not something thats just plug and go. You're gonna need to have it tuned. Expect to pay quite a bit on the dyno.

Theres a difference between a complete standalone ecu which completely replaces the stock ecu and a chip. Not being hypoctical, they are entirely different things.

exactly. A "chip" is something attached to a stock ecu to try and manipulate the values.

a "standalone" like the apexi power FC is completely different in that it replaces the stock ecu. It is it's own entity.

think of it like this. a "chip" is like a parasite living off a host.

and you're perfectly right that you will pay a lot and get little gains. except turbo people

nitrous wont see as much gains from the ECU as turbo will.
