Just wondering but what kind/type of engine is the 3S-GTE?

2.0L I4 turbo. Strong as hell and easily modded (like most turbo engines). It was found on all Celica AllTracs and GT4s, and some MR2s. It's also in the Japanese Caldina.

you can make the swap work in the 7th gen but the inside instuments will never work

I just did a search for this engine and I found one in MD for $1600

tasty

But it's AWD...that won't work with the 7th Gen's will it?

^^^ yes it will work.. The sway it-self will cost you around 10k+. IT does work though after a lot of money but than again the vid that i saw the guy had it and he ran 12.31..

Its not even that it is the engine that cost alot. There is just so much custom fabrication that is required it would tally about 10-15 grand to get the engine in and tuned.

o the engine it-self is like 3000k brand new and then the custom fab costs ALOT!

Besides the price, the other negative is that the 3S-GTE's iron block is HEAVY. It weighs around twice as much as the 2ZZ (which is about 250lbs dry), so it'll wreck the already unbalanced 63/37 (1575/925 lbs) weight ratio. The car will be at least 2750lbs, which changes the weight ratio to 68/32 (1825/925). frown The added weight also means the engine will REQUIRE modding to at least catch up with a stock GTS.
