for anybody with the ebay intake, if you can, show me a pic of the install on your car and your opinion of it. i've heard good and bad things about it but the worst thing ive heard about it so far is that it causes bogging and malfuction codes to show. i know about the custom mod but if anybody can give me info on this it would be great. i just ordered mine but since its too late to cancel, oh well gotta make due with what i got

The Ebay intake is not the only one that has bogging problems. Almost all intakes for the Celica have some bogging problems. You could just do the mod and not worry about it anymore. In fact, that's probably the best way to go. You will save money.

Yup, all intakes can cause bogging and CELs except TPR (specially made so it can't bog or cause a CEL). The eBay CAI is an exact replica of the AEM Gen 1 CAI, but with no MAFS mount problems like they had (same reason AEM came out with Gen 2). I had it and it caused bogging, extremely bad when the car is cold on cold days. Doing the intake mod I created will eliminate any bogging or CELs, since it's what TPR based their CAI off of. smile

The intake is $180 plus shipping. It's not CARB approved, but it will pass emissions. Depending on if you're going for looks or not, you could always get it painted matte black, and it will look like OEM so it will pass visual inspection. grin

Well, it's called the "eBay" CAI because they're mainly sold on there by smaller companies. They're AEM replicas. Exact replicas (even with AEM's faults wink ). But for only about $50 vs $200+ for the real thing. Pick it up, do my stock airbox mod, and you'll have the 2nd best CAI out there. thumbsup

I love my Injen CAI too but I sure could do without the bogging. It's even worse in the winter when the air is already well below zero. (canadian)

You need to PM Easy_C if you want to buy one. The store won't be up for a while (it was never up in the first place wink ). At the moment, Easy_C is offering a special deal to those who want the intake ASAP. Right now, the final version of the intake is delayed till about the end of this month, since the entire MAFS section is casted for 100% complete accuracy, and the casting shop is backed up. The one being offered right now has all of the features of the new intake (stainless steel mandrel bent piping, adjustable mounting bracket, high flow K&N filter [highest flowing of any intake out there], able to be changed into an SRI), except that the MAFS section is hand welded together instead of cast as one piece. Should still be at about 95% accuracy (TPR's shop is great when it comes to quality thumbsup ), so there's not much to worry about.

If the install was done correctly, there could only be one CEL if it was the intake's fault: P0171 (lean). Any other codes that showed up after the install are either due to an incorrect install, or something not pertaining to the intake.
