My engine is filthy. What is the best way to clean it? I hear steam cleaning is good? But how much does that stuff cost...

simple green--it's what i use and i have NO complaints whatsoever.

if you have trouble getting in between the valves (for gts') you can use an engine degreaser to help out.

^^ electrical? you do mean just the wire covers, right?

you can still use simple green for this..just use a rag or a paper towel that has some on it and wipe them down thumbsup

you should never have to clean anything electrical (connections, wires themselves).

there was a thread about this the other day and Isaac put up a very comprehensive article on it...

- I use the CD-2 Engine Detail Kit. First cover the battery, intake, etc and then hose the engine bay down. Next, spray on the degreaser. After letting it sit, spray off and run the engine for a few minutes to dry. Now spray on the detailer and run the engine again with the hood open...

comes out spotless - thumbsup

This stuff works great makes plastic shine. After a week get a rag and a engine degreaser. Here's what I do to maintain the engine from engine grime. Spray the degreaser right onto the rag and then buff your metal until it shines. Works wonders. Maintain it frequently and you will not have a hard time cleaning it in the long run to due all the gunk and buildup.
