Ok, i have a 2003 gt, and i have the aem intake for a couple of months now, but lately i am getting a lot of cels, and what i do is i just reset the ecu. Last week got the cel light on again, i got tired of it, so i took it to the dealer but did't said nothing about the other cel lights coming on, they said that i am going to keep getting the cel light on, because i don't have the intake install correctly and some piece of the intake is losse or something.

The guy told me that the ecu is not calculating because of this, and once i have that fixed, the car will run better.

I don't what the hell to do man, here is a picture of the only cable that is not connected to the intake.

Help me out here guys!

Can you take a shot of the whole engine bay intake area on how you connected everything and give us the cel # that keeps registering when it keeps coming up. That'll probably help us answer your problems better. thumbsup

I have a hard time believing that. thumbsdown Its probably your MAF sensor. Did you remember to clean it?

That's the VSV for intake air control... Unplug that and remove it because AEM don't need that. If you followed through the AEM's instruction with the proper hose and MAF installation, then I'm sure your getting CEL because you have that thing plugged in. That's a 2nd gen AEM CAI and you shouldn't get CEL if you did the instructions right.

Everything else on your intake is fine except that sensor attached to the blue plug. With it still there, the ECU reads a huge vacuum leak and throws a CEL. Yank the sensor, tie up the blue plug so it doesn't get caught in any moving parts, reset the ECU, and that CEL will go away.

Well, not quite RIP off. wink It just unplugs like any other plug on the car. You can leave the blue plug on its wires instead of snipping it off, but just make sure you tie it out of the way. The important part is that the engine doesn't get any readings from the sensor, otherwise it will think there's a huge vacuum leak or something's wrong with the sensor (aka turn on the CEL light).

So then that metal thing that saids toyota denso is the sensor and by just taking that out of the blue plug and leaving the plug in a safe place, i will not have a cel?

Just rechecking to make sure i understand your recommendation and do it.

Yap, blue bomber got it. Your lines are all connected properly. The blue plug shouldn't be pluged in. thumbsup

god bless you people that damn check engine light has been driving me nuts...every damn day someone in my car would always point it out...dude your check engine light is on...i f-ing know goddamn it thumbsup

i took off the sensor from the blue plug, and i got a cel again!!!!!!!, can someone tell me what could be wrong here?

Did you plug up the hole on the intake manifold that had a thin hose running to the blue sensor?

most dealerships dont know their ass from their elbow. Clean your Mass Airflow sensor. thats about all you can do. also you can unclip that toyota denso unit from the wireing harness because your nolonger using it.

I have an AEM cold air intake and I didnt clean my MAF sensor. My car with running fine after that, no cel came on. I can try to take pic of my Intake, it an 04 GT same as an 03. Let me try to take some pic tomorrow for you

are you sure the intake is causing the CEL? did you even have the code checked? I really find it hard to believe a 2nd gen AEM CAI is getting CEL. Wasn't the 2nd gen AEM CAI designed to eliminate the CEL issues from gen 1? idunno

The biggest reason for CELs on the Gen 1 was because the MAFS mounts were hand welded, sometimes at the wrong angle. Just because the Gen 2s are machine welded doesn't mean they can't cause a CEL. They just have a lesser chance of it than the Gen 1s.

you probably have to clean your MAFS. I installed an intake on my car and i kept getting CEL lights too. I cleaned the sensor (its the black one that screws into the intake, use a Q-tip and some water) and never had a CEL again.

I cleaned the maf last weekend and reset the ecu, so far so good, but i will have to knock on wood and wait to see what happens.
