You can drill in the pillar section. Then later if you decide to get rid of the shift light or the car and want to go stock. You can

1. either get a new pillar at the junk yard not expensive like 20 bucks.

2. Or you can buy a can of gray vinyl paint $5.00 then bodyfill fill the minor holes with puty or bondo and just spray the pillar gray with a spray can. That won't be hard at all.

Not sure if you have a full pillar or half pillar. If your shift light just the shift light alone or do you use a full tach gauge?

Anyway here's how I did mine with just a shift light. Here you won't have problems mounting on the dash and no vibration. Easy access for wires to hide as well.

You don't need this pillar to do this. You can mount directly on the stock pillar.

Pic2. Shift light. Remove bracket and bolts. Use the bracket as guide to mark your bolt holes. Place it on the pillar mark holes.

Get the bracket align it to the position you want. Mark the hole with a pencil or pen. Then remove the bracket and drill the screws in. This will make it easier for you to drive the screws in later.

Now put the bracket back on and drive those two screws back in. Only two small screws and your set.

Then mount the shift light to the bracket. Wire everything direct to the ECU. More accurate readings. Hide and run all the wires appropriately.

Before puting it back into the car test the shift light if it works. If all goes well. put the pillar back in place and your set.

Off.

Set to 3500rpm for testing. I used an adjustable shift light instead of the pill that can't be adjust works well.

or you could get some type of clips and clip it to your ac vent... on the drivers side... or put it inside the ac vent...

--i stuck the shifter on using these adhaseive double sided dots. but right now it has a problem. i cant get it firmly on the dash. only 2 of the 4 points are making contact.

How exactly do you get a shift light to light up when you want it to. Do you have to hook it the the tranny or what? I have always wondered that and how do you adjust when the light goes on.
