When I start my car and let it idle while its still cool, a really high pitch squeeling noise comes out though the front of the car. I'm thinking that something is rubbing under the hood...a belt perhaps? Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas? cheers

may not be enough tension on the belt. you can tigten them up because when you start there isn't enough tension as you run it the belt tightens up. thus itquits squeekin.

yeah ask for "anti-seize compound" or "belt dressing" at your local auto supply store.

it's generally expected that belts may squeel when cold until warmed up. belt dressing helps a lot. I hope people who paid for new belts or new belt tensioners tried the dressing first...

Belt dressing is not lube, lube is a bad thing for a belt. Its like oiling your brakes, they won't squeal either if you oil them.

It's your drive belt. A few automotive journalists have noted the same problem. Toyota should be able to fix on warranty.

Its your belt, but you also need a new tensioner.
