reason i'm asking is because there are a lot of safety issues at risk of installing a racing harness, and i want to know them all ( spineyes). in my opinion, the 4 point sparco cam lock harnesses look the coolest

hehe. it has 4 metal belts you have to clip in, and one twise of the center releases them all. anyways, they make look cool, but from what i know are dangerous to use for daily street driving and track lapping. racing harnesses hold you in your seat more tightly than the stock 3 point seatbelts, thus you have less movement. if something flies through your windsheild, you would not be able to duck down as you would with your stock belt. furthermore, i you were to roll the car or be involved in an collision, your spine can be crushed (depending on the angle of harness install). in order to make full use of a racing harness with saftey in mind, you would need a roll cage. in my mind it is unecessary for daily use, and if you do have one, you would need to wear a helmet. reason being if you roll the car your head can smash against the roll cage causing death, thus a helmet is needed.

a while ago someone mentioned the pros and cons of using the 4 point and 5 point in track and autox events..but i forget.

the four point are usually the best too...rally racing has 4 point doesn't it? Those things are beasts when they crash and the people don't move at all.

So if you get racing harness you have to get a roll cage to attach the belts to? Isn't there another way to attach them?

no the roll cage is just for added safety.

i dont like the way they look though. they should make some more conservative ones.

they don't attach to roll cages...they just attach at the bottom of the seats and top I think...I am not sure.

thanks guys.

and spyder, you can attach the harness to your rear stock seatbelt mounts...thus rendering the rear belt useless.

i have a pic of member in my club who has the sparco 4 pt cam lock. i'll post it when i find a pic.
