My friend and I worked on the bottom half of the center console near the shift boot. We sanded the original paint, primed it, sanded the primer and then applied the first layer of paint. The scratches sorta show through the paint as you can see in the picture, so I'm wondering if I should keep applying more layers of paint or if I should sand the paint down when it dries with really fine sand paper, before painting it over again. What'd you guys think?

Way too abrasive sanding looks like, those pieces are pretty smooth so you really dont need to sand much, or at least use finer grit

1st use 800 grit to smooth it out, then 1000 grit, and last 2000 grit. Between coats use only 2000 grit. For the final clear coat sand it, then use 3m rubbing compound for polish.

i found out on the center console its better not to prime it, the pieces i didnt prime came out babys ass smooth, the shift piece i tried priming and all that jazz, came out looking like yours, so i just stripped it and painted it normally

just keep sanding it. i also used sand paper that was a bit too abrasive, but it all smoothed out after i kept sanding it with fine sand paper.
