I usually just get an oil change every 3000 miles at toyota, but Ive decided to switch to synthetic oil and change it myself. I have a couple questions though: 1. Is it bad to switch to full synthetic right away after regular oil? 2. What is the best synthetic oil I can get? How much is it and how much do I have to buy? 3. Also, WTF is transmission oil? This is my first manual car so maybe thats why I have never heard of it. Do I have to change it? And if so, how? Thanks!

1. yea, just switch to synthetic. hopefully ur car has over 10,000 miles or else its still a little early to switch to synthetic. 2. mobil 1 is good. its gonna cost u, maybe you should goto costco and buy a box of it. 3. transmission oil is transmission fluid. automatic cars have it too. it is kinda red color. changing it every 15,000 miles is wut enthusiasts do, but it could last you a bit more than that for sure. just like oil, drain and fill. but you gotta fill it from the dipstick hole, measure it and add some more. you SHOULD NOT put more than wut it can take, cz it will fuck up with the tranny. You're Welcome

Mobil 1 and Royal Purple are the two brands people like most. I use Mobil 1 oil and filter. If you want to get a 5 quart jug at Wal-Mart, it will cost you around $25. If you buy it quart by quart, look for it to be around $30+. You will need 4 quarts (actual amount is 3.9 though). 3. Transmission oil goes into your transmission to lubricate gears, synchros, etc. You should change it, but not nearly as often as your oil. https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_57323_0_collapsed_2__1.html

You're Welcome Thanks man! Well I bought my car with 41k miles and now it has 58k and I have never changed the transmission oil (and Im not sure if the previous owner/dealer did either). So what is the best transmission oil to buy?

redline mt-90 recommended by the members at ec. its suppose to be better than wut the dealer uses and makes ur shiftings nicer. so go for redline mt-90 and definetely get the tranny fluid changed. 60k miles is lots of miles if its on the same fluid

Ok so I'm coming up on my next oil change. I think I am going to go with Mobil 1 synthetic, but what weight do i get (I think its called weight?)?
Also, this is for a GT, not a GTS, so how many quarts do I need to have the right amount???? Is mobil 1 the best synthetic oil to get or is there better?
Thanks!
