^^ it's not gonna cause you to blow ur engine.

as already said it's just going to burn off and you'll see black smoke coming out from your exhaust.

you may have thrown a CEL because your cat picked up some excess fumes but i wouldn't worry about it...drive your car around the city a bit and when you get back reset ur ECU (unplug ur negative battery terminal for a few minutes)..you should be fine.

if the cel comes back on after you've burned the excess oil, then take it to autozone..they do a free obdII scan

With previous experience with some junker cars. I ran some of those way low for some time and over. It's nothing to worry about if you're a little over. Don't worry about that. I'm just curious, after reading your first post, why you are throwing a CEL. I don't believe that has to do with a little overfill of the oil. How much past the dot are you? 1 or 2 inches or like a millimeter? I would be a little worry if I changed my oil, threw a CEL, and didn't know if a little over the dot is OK. According to your statements. Maybe you shouldn't have changed your own oil and spent $19.99 to have someone else do it or maybe you did something wrong with the change (I don't know how). You got the right filter, correct? Sorry I can't help more and I don't mean to be a hard ass either. I wish you the best of luck in your situation.

Some people run with a full quart extra at the track to keep the oil system from running dry, so a little over the top mark won't hurt anything.

^^^ correct as always. I'm just happy this person's CEL is gone. I hope it doesn't come back either. It's always good and not much trouble to at least check and top off all the fluids on any car especially for a Celica if you don't get Toyota's maintenance checks. Since we are talking about Celica's.

If you filled it to the full line & then added a gallon you might have a real problem. A little over doesn't make any difference.
