I am thinking about getting some racing seats. These are 295 shipped http://www.jmdracing.com/store/product_details.php?category_id=48&product_id=2340 . Does anyone have any personal experience with seats like these and can say things to look out for or if I will need additional brackets and what not. Thanks.

those look just like stock, you mise well just get your oem ones rehupolstered. But as far as new seats, 99% of the time theres new brackets and crap that goes along with it

It depends on what you're buying them for. If you want them to look neat, then reupholster away.

If you want to not slide around, buy a good, name brand bucket.

Can someone please tell me why everyone says to get the expensive racing seats like sparco for 1200 vs. for the nex tech seats for 300? Is it that I will not be able to buy a bracket to make it fit or that the quality is that bad? Of coarse the bigger names are better, but what specifically would be bad about buying the nex tech type seats?

I think its just a matter of safety. Sparco has proven itself and you know it will be safe. But next tech who knows.

it is true that you do pay for the names of seats such as sparco, bride, and more specifically: recaro (in my opinion--the best maker of car seats)

but as spyder already said..you are mostly paying for quality, safety, and research that went into making the seat. also, most name-brand seats such as the ones i already mentioned uncoincidentally turn out to be lighter.

A few things to keep in mind when purchasing aftermarket seats:

Seat material - some will wear faster than others

Position - aftermarket seats may sit higher or lower than stock.

Reclinability - how functional, can the seats tilt forward to allow access to the rear seats?

Can the seats accomodate harnesses

Do they come with applicable brackets for the Celica? How much? Will you have to modify them to make them work?

Weight?

Safety?
