I usually wax my car about once a month or AT LEAST once every other month using this stuff...
http://www.turtlewax.com/products/pages/t-411_12.htm

it works well and I've been hooked to it for quite some time now, but it left swirl marks after the every-other-week car wash (yeah, I also try to wash it weekly)

I especially hated how when it got moist outside in the evenings, fog would build up on the car and all of the swirls were incredibly visible and almost embarrassing thumbsdown

Quote
A good wax job is also a must for winter. Just like a rain slicker, car wax repels rain and, more importantly, the myriad of pollutants associated with it. Although it's tempting to neglect a dirty vehicle because it'll probably rain or snow again anyway, road salt, slush, grime and the like are particularly brutal to your car's finish. To minimize rust and paint damage, regular washings and waxes are necessary.

I recently switched to Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax and love it!!!!

It was incredibly simple to apply - I washed my car in the morning and then about 5 in the evening (just when the heat burned off) and then got out the TechWax and the included application pad and started working on one half of the car and within 15 minutes, was done with the application and then spent another 5 minutes removing it - even detailing it.

Repeated on the other side for a total of 1 hour wax job without using any machines - for less than $15 (with enough for several more applications left) and I didn't have to worry about any car wash creep driving my car and steeling the coins from my center-bin thumbsup

I could INSTANTLY notice the difference between what I had been using and what I had just finished using... it was WOW!!!! eek

Not a single swirl could be found - the red in my car was instantly deeper and the reflection looked as though the car just just been repainted!!! I took the car out of the garage tonight for a little spin - ran into a 7-Eleven to grab a much needed redbull and when I came out, there was the usual evening condensation on my roof - but not a single wipe mark was found.. it looked very even!

I love this stuff...

Have you waxed your car yet? How often? What do you use? Are you happy with what you use?

I wax the car every oil change and I wash it (during the summer) at least once a week, if not more. as for the winter thats a different story, im lucky it I wash it 5-10x. I know its bad but the ppl in the colder areas will understand what its like tring to get in the car when the doors a frozen.

A few examples of how a good wax job can keep your car shining through the years rice

This was a few months after getting the car from Toyota in December 2000 (got the kit, wheels, tint & exhaust a few months after buying the car)...

[Linked Image]

This was about a year ago, December 2003... it pretty much looked the same for the past year, since then...

[Linked Image]

after the most recent wax using Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax, the color is deeper and much much more shiny!!! Right now, I'm on vacation until Sunday - but will be taking pictures this week while I'm out and will post some of the car during this time, so you can compare...

please post a few of your JUST AFTER WAX shots if you got them... also, what brand wax you used thumbsup

Is it bad if you wax the car once a month, or once every two months, wont it hurt the paint??

Mothers clay bar every 2 months, Every week - 2 weeks I use mothers pre-wax cleaner (after the wash), mothers sealer and glaze, and to finish, mothers reflections wax...I like to keep my car really really shiny all the time (and yes, I have an orbital buffer to make things faster and easier)

Just tried the Meguiar's 3 step process followed by Liquid Gold and I am pretty impressed with the results. Including washing and drying I'm going over the entire vehicle 10 times, so this will be limited to a 3-4x annual chore, but I'm thrilled with the shine for under $30 worth of product and 3-4 hours time.

ive used that tech stuff twice. its not that amazing. it still leaves swirls and i can still see scrathes. and not deep scrathes just the normal ones. but my car is black i can see everything. also its hell to get that stuff off. when the bottle runs out im going to get some mothers or mequires. heard there better

also i got the spary from tech. where you use between waxes. works about the same. only real nice thing about it, it leaves a nice shine and decent smell.

here we go, I know I'll get flamed BUT>>>
I WASH my celi AT LEAST twice a week. I RINSE it off and towel dry it almost every day on my way to work. I wax it every other Sunday. The Sunday I don't wax it, I use spray detailer. I have used both Turtlewax Ultimate and the McGuiers NXT, both waxes and both detailers. They both work great, but I think I get a little better result with the Turtlewax. I clean the glass and the rugs and armour-all the interior every Sunday, and I use glass cleaner wipes on the painted interior pieces. I clean the rims with Mothers BILLET cleaner every Sunday too. No one has EVER seen my car dirty, unless I just drove it in the rain. Its hell being compulsive AND anal, but my silver shines like you won't believe. oh, in the spring I always go over the whole car with diesel fuel to remove old wax and "feed" the paint. After that I buff it with 3m mirror glaze. Any small scratches I remove with Scratch-x, if that doesn't do it, I use polishing compound.
edit--forgot an afterwax pic...this was with Turtlewax Ultimate

Armour all is a no-no. Use 303 aerospace protectant it offers UV protection. I also wouldn't use turtlewax either but that is just me.

I strongly suggest 303 aerospace for your dash, trim, plastic pieces.

For cloth seats/carpets can't go wrong with woolite and water. Or I've seen oxi-clean for the carpets as well.

I use the Zaino Bros. stuff and it works GREAT. But I learned my lesson to not leave it in the garage over hte winter. It froze and separated, $$$$ down the drain. I'll post a pic when I get home in about an hour if you wanna see. thumbsup

With this wax stuff...what did you use to remove wax.

Directions say use 100% cotton towel but towels have NEVER EVER touched my paint.
