Tell them to go fuck themselves, because a stage three clutch on a N/A Celica would be like putting drag radials on a Metro.

If you drive the car normally, and don't dump the clutch, then just go with the stock clutch. Anything rated to handle more torque will just go out faster.

A good street disc like a stage 2 is probably best if you don't plan on big major mods and if you want the car to be easy for daily driving. clutch plate you can get a stock or aftermarket, just know that the aftermarket plate will cause your clutch pedal to stiffen, usually a lot from a racing plate, depending on application and engagement will be quite harsh with any puck type disc.
Brand will just depend on you, many people like ACT because its cheap and good Performance, I myself prefer Clutch Master and Exedy.

ok, I have the CM stage 3 so perhaps I can best answer your question. You can definitely beat on it as it is one touch clutch, but your not wanting to replace your clutch again is not realistic. How long do you plan on keeping your car btw? I know how to drive a stick and don't ride the clutch, and my stage 3 lasted only 20k miles in a lot of stop and go driving, where I would get thrown back in my seat practically every time I engaged my clutch. I did do a lot of high load street testing though smile. And I did do the mandatory 500 mile break-in for the kevlar (before "racing" it). As it wore down from all the daily driving, it engaged with less bite. You said you were not going Turbo so you don't need this clutch and probably won't be happy with it in daily driving. Is nitrous possibly in your future?
If you're going all-motor do get a regular full disc clutch (not segmented like CM stage 3 or pucked) and don't get kevlar as the friction material. Try RPS street clutches.

I get my kicks on EC.

whoa. seems to mee that what the said is pretty much b.s. ..

he told me that they could change the angle is point of engangment ( i think) so basically its like moving the point to where it is still as easy as stock to push the clutch down, and that it wont become any stiffer. . .

i was going to just get the TRD Clutch from TRDracing.com

i didn't think that i needed anything more then a stage 1, but he said stage 3 and i could beat and it and probbaly never have to revisit it again. . . ?

sooo then
1. ACT
2. TRD Clutch

what model ACT? if i get that one?

and it will be a daily driven car, and i dont plan on beating the pisssss out of it, i just want to know that its there, and use it when i want smilei dont just plan to try to launch in lift every time i go, but i would like the ability to get pretty close?

I'd get the TRD Japan Clutch set from TRDracing.com...I'm gonna end up with that one too...and yes 7 hours at $50 and hour is very reasonable to install both the flywheel and the clutch. Lucky and Illusive both have the TRD Japan Clutch, and they said that they've had no hiccups, and they annihilate their clutches regularly with launching from lift

Get SPEC!
I got it and pedal pressure is stock-like, even though it can hold a lot of torque

"riding the clutch" simply means that you hold the clutch halfway engaged while driving or switching gears. Basically it is when you hold the clutch in a little bit while shifting when you should have already released it which causes your clutch to wear out like CRAZY due to the slippage.

$350 to install a clutch is a great price, my first clutch install was like $450, but now I get it for $250 since I always go to the same shop and the guy works on my cars so much. Just so you know they should charge the about same for installing a clutch or a clutch+flywheel because you still take out both parts either way and the old flywheel needs to be re-surfaced for the new clutch so its still the same amount of work either way, might be cheaper w/ flywheel if they charge for re-surfacing.
