today i decided to wash my engine out, i used the engine foam cleaner from pepboys and sprayed around, then afterward i rinse out the engine with some water and air compress dry it. i turn on my car and near 3k rpm and up i hear a big squeaking noise from the belt. I'm just wondering if this is normal. My dad kept saying that it's fine and let it be for a day and it'll go away because i cleaned the engine with some water and all, is that true???

yep, all that grease on the pulleys kept the belt quiet, you could replace your belt, but try starting your car, let it idle, and spray some WD-40 on the belt, a good ammount but not too much, then go rev it and it shouldnt squeal anymore

Yah, it will squeal for a bit & its no biggie. If it continues, use belt dressing to clean it up. Never spray a lubricant on your belt. thumbsdown
