Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior NGK Laser Spark Plug

Hey, would you guys install either one of the NGK Laser / Iridium IX / G-Power Platinum plugs? or you would still stick around with Denso?

i'm sticking with old trusty Denso, i would get TRD Denso spark plug later though.

I've heard good things about the Iridium, no experience with it yet though, sorry

well,, actually i just got some of the denso SK20R11 plugs for my car, but i'm thinking to try the NGK laser plugs too, but just before that i want to hear what you ppl have to say about that..

My 2002 GT uses iridium plugs. They are to be replaced every 196000KM (like it says in the maintenance book.
Dealer wants $28.00 per plug, but I was able to price the same ones out at NAPA Auto parts for $11.00 each. My car just hit 100000KM so I have another two years to go.
No matter which brand you get-iridium is the newest and the best.

so the NGK laser plugs wouldn't be a bad idea to go then, just as long as they are iridium plugs, it's cool...

when changing your spark plugs do you have to change the lil spark plug coils? you know those black things that have a plug hooked up to theM??

no, unless one of them is bad, you shouldn't need to replace them

THE LASER IS IRIDIUM A LASER IS THE ONLY WAY TO CUT IRIDIUM ALOT OF AUTO PARTS STORES COMPUTERS JUST SAY LASER ON THE SCREEN AND MOST PEOPLE THAT WORK AT AUTO PARTS ARENT TO EDUCATED ON CARS

I say go with the lastest because there usually have the best technology!

yep sure did, i replaced them at 85,000 and it felt better than new

Either iridium spark plug is good to use, NGK and Denso are good quality brand and are usually oem spark plugs.
The Bosc Platinums aren't that bad for the money but I've had a lot of respectable mechanics advise me to "NEVER USE BOSC ON A JAPANESE CAR", they say stick with either NGK or Denso for japanese vechicles and Bosc for European cars. And I have had some problems with Bosc Platinums with my 95 Eclipse GST so thats why I stay away from Bosc.

Yea heard the same. Don't use bosch on a japanese car. Only go with denso or ngk. When do you guys recommend on replacing plugs at?

Like your car is going to know the difference between a Bosch o2 sensor or a denso O2 sensor for the same application!

Guys, regardless of who makes the part, if it was meant to fit the car in question, it will work, period. I used Bosch parts on mazdas, NGK plugs in american cars... it doesn't matter one bit.

True, if you want to stick with original equipment, then go with denso, that is what is used in our cars from the factory, but to exclude a part because it's made by a euro-sounding company, that's just plain recockulace!!!!

Bosch, Denso, NGK, they all make quality parts... But since our cars came with iridium plugs, they should only be replaced with iridium plugs, and so far, only the JDM companies (NGK and Denso) make them. Sure, the Bosch 4-way platinums would work great in a boosted or nitrous application, but on the NA celica, you should stick with iridium.

If you're going to choose one part over the other, make sure it's for the right reason, not just because of who makes it.
