Hammer might be too small and cause damage. Big-ass mallet or gentle sledge hammer whap underneath from other side of tire. The rim metal "freezes" onto the vehicle.

don't dent your rim... he suggested a maillot so that it may loosen up the wheel without damaging it

Hit the wheel from the OTHER SIDE away from the car. You'll have to reach across from underneath to do it. A baseball bat used like a pool cue against the tire will do the trick if you're mallet-deprived. You gotta thud it, man!!

I had the same problem with my girls honda accord. Just give one hard pull. Some WD40 might help too.

Sometime I get that. It could mean that your lugs are on too tight. Be careful not to crack the lug. This happened to me and it took 6 hours for me and my dad to take it out.

Get yourself one of those cross-type four way lug wrenches. You can pull on one side and push on the other and the increased leverage has never failed me in getting the tightest lug removed.

where did you get your lugnuts tightened from?
if they are so hard to remove, that place probably over torqued them...

air compressor + impac wrench = priceless investment my friend

Yah, that crack sound is there for two reasons, your lugs were probably torqued higher than the prescribed 75lbs & second, they probably haven't been off your car in a long time.

First lube it with WD40. Next get a 2 or 3 foot hallow pipe, place your tire iron on the lug, place the pipe over the tire iron & jump on the other end. thumbsup

Remember after you replace the rims, I would use soap & water to wash off the WD40 & then retorque your lugs after 20 miles or so.

yes, an air compressor and an impact gun is a very wise investment indeed.

you cant fix/mod your car without the proper tools, now can you? grin

Stand on the bar, and it should budge. If not, then jump on it.

I JUST got my tires rotated, probably only a week ago. And it was at a Toyota dealership. I think I'm going to give up and just go over their and tell them "Can you please loosen up the lugnuts? I want to paint my breaks but you guys screwed them too tight" rofl

I tested the torque of wheel lugnut torque after I got the car service my my local dealer. They are between 160~200 foot-pound. (I used a 18 inch/250 foot pound torque ranch to measure that) I guess the dealer used an air gun to tight them up.

The torque should be 76 foot-pound. Over tight or uneven torqued lugnuts will hurt the brake a lot.
