ok another problem with my baby. about 3 weeks ago i had AEM cold air intake installed on my 2000 toyota celica gt. since that day whenever i accelerated normally and uphill, the gear would dissapear off D and sometimes go to N. weird huh? well i called speed image who installed it and they told me to bring it in but they are saying it's most likely not the intake...hmmmmmmmmmm. i called toyota dealership and they said it's definitely the intake effecting my transmission...hmm WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?!!??! i have an appoitment with speed image tomorow at 1 so yeh let me know so i can yell at them!!! my poor baby is always going to the doctor.=(
thanks

I do not see how an intake will cause this. It has nothing to do with the trans. Maybe the shop accidentally bumped something out of place. Toyota will tell you its the intake just because. They don't want to do any warranty work.
Maybe I am wrong, but it makes no sense to why an intake would mess up a transmission. Your trans doesn't seem to be messed up. Its just that light right? Or is the whole trans shifting from Drive to Neutral?

hmm... i'm pretty sure it's not just the light because when i'm driving up a hill the stick actually moves a little and when i move it down it lights up the D again. i hope it's not my whole trans..ahh

I think its from your boyfriend. Tell him he messed up your car, hehe. Nah, don't be too hard on him, but thats probably the cause of what is wrong with your ride. Good luck with it. I hope things work out for ya.

it really sounds like a transmission issue.. there is no way a CAI is going to cause your tranny to slip like that. good luck, hope it works out

I don't see how the intake would effect your transmission, and personally I just think your dealer was BSing you, of course they are going to blame any aftermarket performance parts for causing whatever problem. I'd take the intake out before bringing it into the dealer.
