I've changed the clock color and cigarette lighter and I plan to change the A/C lighting soon. I put the center console back in, screw everything down and now my A/C and heater buttons stick in when I push them. I can't get them back out. I have to take off the console and pull them out. angry I really makes me mad. I just want my A/C unit back to stock working order. Anybody whos done this, do you know how to prevent the buttons from sticking once you've replaced the center console. I NEED HELP, PLEASE! cry

Take the panel off again, and look at the black bracket that contains both the AC and Rear Defrost buttons. Did you tighten both of those tiny gold screws that hold the bracket into place?

Just make sure that both are tightened as much as possible, but don't go overboard and break the screw hole. It is made of plastic and very fragile.

I wound up breaking mine and had to buy a whole new heater assembly from a junk yard to replace it due to the fact that I stripped and cracked the plastic screw hole that holds one side of the black bracket in, and since one side was held down, and the other wasn't, one button wouldn't work, and would stick.

If the screws don't solve your problem, make sure that no wires or anything that you may have installed behind the console is in the way.

EDIT: I also recommend that due to the fact that the screw holes are made of plastic, that you don't remove/replace the screws too many times, because you will eventually strip or break the hole.

Assuming you can take the center console off, at the top on the back of the center console theres the white panel with a white plastic plug with wires attached to it. Remove the plug. You need a small phillips screwdriver to take the four screws off. Turn the unit over and you'll see the LED display. Use the cellaphane (couple sheets) and lay it over. Really easy. Make sure when you cover the clock you don't block the pushpads for changing the time. You're going to need then to reset your clock after reinstalling. thumbsup

BTW, Mark, if you didn't know, I killed my A/C couple weeks ago trying to change the A/C lighting with LEDs. Broke the PC board, so my heater and A/C dont work anyway. Need to get the part from Toyota.

Marks a celebrity. shocked I was tempted to post a more in depth install guide, just for ppl asking questions n stuff, like Chad. Its a lot of work and picture taking, imo. thumbsdown

Follow me here. wave

You post an install guide and people like it, you're a celebrity (more like a hero happywink). QED grin Still don't know how cutting the green wire prevents the lights from dimming. confused

I don't think I have ever posted an install guide, have I?

Anyways, the green wire is most likely linked up with the headlight system/relays, and whenever they are activated, a pulse of some sort travels down the green wire, and into the clock, thereby making it somehow dim.

Trying to figure this stuff out is like trying to comprehend the concept of infinite space.

It will blow your mind. spineyes wink

My clock is starting to look orange. wtf Needs more blue cellaphane. I was looking for that classic LED green you 03 Celica owners take for granted.

If I have any problems with the panel, I know who to contact. wave

Good luck.

So your stock clock is orange, and you are adding blue celaphane to it?

Green wire. You need to cut it. If that doesn't work, you need to make the cellaphane flat against the LED or else it reflects off the inside, fading it. Its hard to do, but it makes the display less reflective.

the green wire disables it from dimming when your turn on the headlights, right. but when my lights arent turned on at night, they are bright. but during the day, its dim.

and i've made it so that the film is pressed against the screen.

I could take a look at it if you want. wave

You've got sunlight reflecting off the cover. I have that too. You could make a shield shade for it. I can still see mine during the day, but just barely. Thats why I wear a watch.

I think I might make part two of Marks guide. idunno
