Wuddup ya'll. I'm new to everythingcelica.com. This site is the shit. Anyway, I bought some Excel TZ-10s (18 inch) for my 2000 Celica. I was out of the country for a few weeks and my brother put them on. When I got back and drove my car, I noticed that the steering wheel was vibrating/shaking at 60 mph and above. I know this ain't normal. I took them rims off and put my factories back on. I had trouble getting them off because it turns out that my studs are damaged. I asked my bro about it. He didn't have much to say. My question is how do I replace/repair my studs so that I can put my rims back on. And what kind of studs do I need. Sorry about this mini essay that I wrote. Please help me out. My rims are not on my car where they belong and it's breaking ma heart frown

vibration can be fixed by balancing your tires...pretty cheap and quick job at a tire shop. i'm not sure what to say about the studs, either though.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep asking around about the studs and see if anyone knows where I can replace them. And as soon as I put my rims back on, I'ma get the wheels balanced. I got Nakang tires on the rims now, btw. Are they cheap tires? If so, I guess I'll be changing them pretty soon.

If anyone else can help me with my damaged studs, I'ma eagerly waiting for your assistance.

Your tires shouldn't affect wheel shake all that much. That's more than likely your wheel's needing balancing. As far as your studs. You can prolly just go to autozone, or advanced auto or some auto parts place. They'll be able to tell you what kind of studs you need (they're pretty generic) and get them for you. They are pretty cheap too. I don't know if you'll be able to put them on yourself or not. It involves whacking the old ones out the back of your axels and hammering in some new ones. your dealership would definetly do it for you (expensive). Hope that helps

Just go to the parts dept at your local Toyota dealer and tell them what you need. They only cost a few dollars, trust me I've busted four of mine taking the wheels off.

Also I agree with everyone else, you need a balance to fix that shake.

The dealer in my area said that the studs cost $8 each. Does that sound about right? And also, will the studs and the aftermarket wheel nuts go together? Just making sure. peace

I took my car to Pepboys. They checked the studs out and it turns out only one stud was damaged. They replaced it for like $29. Then I got the wheels balanced and put back on my car. It runs perfect now. Thanks to everyone who offered advice. My rims are now where they belong, not in my living room, but on my car. thumbsup

Good to hear all is right with the world again.

I never answered you earlier question, $8 is high, but thats a import dealer for you. Domestics sell them for about $3 each.
