i bought my car back in march, used from a non toyota dealership. they gave me a 3 month warranty, which is now over. the car is a 2000 gts with as of now 54,000 miles on the engine. so the only warranty i have is the power train 60k 5 yr, and the rust one but that one doesnt matter, but back to the power train warranty, i only have 6k miles left or 3 months. ever since i had my car i thought it sounded like it had a little tap to the engine, but i think it might have gotten alittle louder but it could just be me. i have changed the oil every 3k and have only put premium gas into it. im afraid once my warranty is up my engine is going to die, i hardly beat on it, my daily shift is around 3.5k-4k. what do you guys think i should do? do all gts run alittle loud/rough? like does it have to do with the higher compression? should i just try to kill the engine off before my warranty end and try to get a new one? i'm lost for what i should do and time is running out.

What do you mean by tap?

Ticking, rough idle?

When does the noise occur?

i dont wanna scare ya but when my rod bearings went on my GT it made a progressive tick that turned into a loud tapping noise over the course of a few days. It also was a low noise until 3-4rpm. This is something that you'd wanna have looked at asap. if it is a lifter or a bearing letting it go will cost you a lot more in the end if let go for too long
