Hey, I'm from Sydney, Australia. Here we have two versions of the celica both with VVTL-i engines, with no mechanical differences, only cosmetic. What are the engine differences between the GT and GTS? spineyes

So how much wheel horsepower does a typical celica put down? I was thinking with a 15% drivetrain loss, a gts should put down around 155.

They actually put down low 160's.

The engine in the GTS (and maybe the GT?) is definately a little too much under-rated. I wouldn't be suprised if it put out around 210 to the crank.

some people dyno'd at 165whp...210 is a little generous though... grin

Lucky can put down 180's without F/I, so I dunno.

oh...yeah 210 to the crank with mods is doable then. [/quote]No mod (not including forced induction and internals) produces more horsepower at the crank, but rather frees it up. So with bolt-ons like exhaust and CAI, you are not producing more power at the crank, but rather allowing the engine to use more of its maximum power by letting it breathe/operate easier.

an exhaust and a CAI is a modification. our cars don't come stock with them. and yeah, i know what they do. rofl

So can anyone point me to some dyno graphs? If it really does put down 165 to the wheels in stock form, that would be 195 to the flywheel, like an itr would.

Yep, they do all read differently. And how did lucky get 184 to the wheels?
