I am super anal about my car, which I am sure a lot of us are. I was wondering, how well do you think the dealers handle our cars, or any car for that fact, when you bring in for service issues, etc.

Reason I am asking is it seems every time I bring my car in for fixing, oil change, whatever, there is some new scratch of some sort...and I am convinced its the c*nts at the dealer.

What are your thoughts?

They don't treat the cars well.

I caught them revving mine in the service bay to the limiter after just turning it on.

Told me it helped it warm up. thumbsdown

Not much you can do about it.

I tried to find a good dealer, went to like 5 or 6 different ones in MD, and I couldn't find one.

Started to fix the stuff myself.

Do the stuff yourself, and if you can't don't take it to the dealer.

from experience im telling u, dealers or any shop dont give a shit about ur car. thats the honest truth. they can do anything wrong from putting the hoist on the wrong spots and fuckin up somethings like ur side skirts or beneath ur car, put some dents or scratches on ur car. believe it or not, they might even fuck ur car up completely when you left ur car there for service for a few days. ive seen someone hitting the door when driving in the shop, putting a deep scratch from the front fender to the back. the car looked better than ever beofre a day later, they bondoed the doors and repainted and detailed the car for "free"
is there a way you can get away from these stuffs? noway unless ur working on ur car or something you really trust is workin on the car. even if its someone you know is working on ur car, it still wont help cz its not their car, they dont know how much you really love the car and how hard you work for it or try to keep it as clean as you have it.

^^oh yea thats wut independent shops do. you give them ur car, they fucken give it to one of their workers to go to the dealership and get a part for some car. some even smoke in it. and then they go to get lunch with it. THEN after everythings done, if they have time they do wut theyre suppose to do on ur car.

Cabe toyota in long beach is nice, they do oil changes for $24 and don't mess around, they take less than 29 mins. (i timed them) i've been there prolly like 4 times till i did oil changes myself, all times they did as asked and nothing more. especially no screwy stuff.only thing is they drive the car with dirty hands so when you get your car back you have like car grease or oil on the steering wheel.

i HAVE NOTICE THAT AS WELL CUZ I TOOK THE CELI IN FOR A RECALL AND THE MECHANIC WAS TRYING TO PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND BROKE THE UNDERGLOW. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THEY REPLACED IT WITH A CHEAPER SET. NOW I WORK IN A DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT
AND WHAT I DO IS MOVE CARS OUT AND PARK THEM. BUT WHEN I PARK THEM, I TREAT THE CARS AS IF THEY WERE MY OWN. SO I GUESS ITS ALL IN WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR IN FOR SERVICE.

If you guys are so anal about your cars why dont you find a better shop or a place that is recommended.

for example go to the regional section of everythingcelica.com and ask around then go to celica.net toyota nation and ask the same questing for your region. im sure someone there has a good shop that they will recommend.

Dealer has only revved my car up one time, and that's after putting the Intake in. I figure he was doing it to make sure everything worked, and he didn't go about 5k RPM by the sound of it.

When I can, I just stay around in the shop and watch them do what they do tongue

I'll have to make a note of my mileage when I take it in next time.

My mom took her ES300 in to the Lexus dealership in Carlsbad for servicing. They tore a big gash into the leather seats when she got it back! angry angry angry Good thing my mom reported it before she took it home. They keep the car even longer to fix the seat. thumbsdown

JUST FYI, Lexus is owned by Toyota, so you could probably expect about the same treatment.

You just acted like such a smart ass when I told you not to take it to the dealership.

What the fuck do you want people to tell you?

Anywhere you take your car you run the risk of it being damaged. At least at dealerships they won't charge you 2X as much as you would pay else where.

Or if you were truly anal about your car, then you would do the job yourself. A retarded lab chimp could change the oil on someone's car.

Or if you were good looking you could get a guy to do it, which most girls do.

So don't flame me for answering your stupid ass question.

Durrrrr, if the dealership scratches my car, where should I take it?

Somewhere else genius. rolleyes

I bought new tires from a joint & this kid took my car on a 20 minute joy ride down the freeway & back. The one oil change place left scratches on my bumpers from them using an airhose attached to the ceiling. I pick up my car from the Toyo dealer & I find my CD player had been turned on & stuff. I hate that! angry angry

my toyota service near my place handles their customer's vehicle good. as far as i know they put some cover on the sear, carpets, and steering wheel. they also have a glass window so you can peak in while they are doing their thing.
