My car had 82K and now the clutch is going out. It has been slipping for a while but it is getting worse. What is the best Performance clutch to go with??? Any ideas..I am not really concerned with the cost!!!

i have a trd clutch and its hard to have someone drive you home when you are drunk because they kill it continusly. Overall you can beat the crap out of it and it still performs

^^^What about the organic Exedy? I hear they are manufacturers of Toyota's clutches. What about RPS? I'm not promoting. I though it would be easier for everyone to see what the Supra Store says about this RPS clutch without giving a link.

"RPS is one of our favorite clutches for import Performance vehicles and a company that is not only an innovator, but a true enthusiast business.

Rob Smith (owner) or RPS has put together some outstanding clutch packages for the 2000+ Celica owner (both 1ZZ and 2ZZ motors). The first of these if the RPS Street Disc Clutch, which we feel is the best Stage I upgrade for Celica owners. If you have the basic bolt-on Performance mods on your car and just need a better overall clutch than the factory unit, then this is your choice. It offers outstanding drivability and holding power.

You will receive the RPS black pressure plate and a fully organic disc with this package. Torque handling capacity is increased to 230 ft.lbs making this a great street clutch. Pedal pressure increase is 15%."

Even with bolt-ons, the stock clutch provides more than enough power.

Going with a clutch that provides 230 ft lbs of clamping power seems to be overkill to me, considering the Celica is not a torque monster by any means.

Just remember, the stronger the clutch, the faster it will wear.

And they aren't cheap to install.

I consider nitrous a bolt-on hehe. You always want a clutch rated a little higher than what you are going to use. So say you have 200 ft-lbs with nitrous and PFC, then the 230 ft-lbs capacity of the RPS would be good.

My stock clutch was slipping at 62K then i got a JDM TRD clutch kit

At 82K miles a spring on the clutch disc broke because of excessive heat. Also, my reverse shifter cable went out. thumbsdown

hey not bad your stock clutch lasted all the way to 62k. Mine didn't come close to that lol.
On your TRD and excessive heat, just wondering do you have to drive in a lot of stop and go traffic? tongue

I wouldn't be too proud of yourself considering that some have lasted to 150,000 miles.

You must be pretty rough on it. At that rate you better budget for a new clutch often & they aint cheap. Last time I got one done, it was about $1000CDN. eek
