Last night my friend just bought a S2000, and that car is fast as hell. I wondered what would happen if RX-8 and S2000 on a drag racing. Which car would you prefer for 1/4 miles?

Also, didn't they have a recall problem in the earler models with them loosing power?

Get the S2K.

I do like the styling of the RX8 tho. But yeah, I am forced to get a sedan, I get a Mazda 3, those cars are nice.

Nah, they just overrated them out of the factory. They were offering modifications or their money back.

S2K if you like convertibles.
RX-8 if you like rotaries.

They're both a pretty good match for each other. Swap in a 3 rotor into that 8 and you've got a monster.

They are like same car.
I heard from RX-8 forums that it only runs 14.3 in 1/4 mile.
And i know s2000 does 14.4.
They both are not a Drag racing car. They are made for handling. Although with s/c they kick ass.
I think it would be a driver race, kinda like gts and type s.
Over all rx-8 is more practical, its got 4 seats and better interior and better engineered suspension. it beat the celica in slalom.
where as s2000 is a pure and rough race car.

S2K lighter, and has more hp. the rx-8 are slow and eat off gas, i heard they break down so easy, so its not a good car, s2k even do its a honda, its a great car, and really fast. so the s2k would rape the rx-8

Cause the RX-7 was twin Turboed. And you are right, it is RWD. Don't know what I was thinking. I always think it's amazing how a 1.3 liter car could put out so much HP, but that's a rotary for ya.

yeah its fucking weird how they work, but they eat of gas, because they have to put out much more gas then we do, wen there in the stage of conpresion, or some shit like that

Honda S2000 ya it's a honda but it is fast as hell. You can also put a massive Vortech charger on those to add some hp. it's also sweet if you get a convertable for the summer

Hey, i have driven the rx-8 and it revs like a mother, but it seems to lack torque. I know the s2k torque numbers are close to the rx8's but the feeling just isn't there. It doesn't throw you back in your seat. Plus the rotary is a nice design, but they took it off the market years ago b/c of problems with it. I'm not saying this renesis is gonna have probs. but it's likely. The HONDA has an endless list of Performance parts anyhow, I'd say S2000!!!

but even though the rotary is thumbsdown for reliability, they can take Turbo boost like a mOfO, i heard the stock twin Turbos on the RX-7 is at 14 or 15 or more psi, crazy shit!!!

not really, the new renesis engine was the engine of the year for its reliability, that's the reason why they got rid of the twin Turbo. Since the 3rd gen TT rx-7 weren't very reliable. The new engine is quite nice. ITs very quiet, smooth and reliable.
As for s2000. Reason for them to lower the redline on newer models is becasue at 8k rpm, there were too much rattle in the engine and gives lot of stress on engine mount and engine parts. New s2000 is probably very reliable, but older s2000 wasn't that reliable.

You guys make it sound like if s2000 is SUPER FAST. They were never fast drag car. compare to celica, yes its little faster by .3-.5 secs. However, if compare to same classes such as evo8, 350z, and sti, s2000 are not very comparable in DRAG racing.

s2000 with vortech s/c got the BEST MOD SPORTS COMPACT CAR title.
s2000 has lot of mods and the mod makes this car very fast.
But as for rx-8, there aren't much aftermarket parts. And if it were to Turboed or s/c, it would be same as having Twin Turbo rotar2rotary engine from 3rd gen rx-7

If i were you, i would go with rx-8, its cheaper, much cheaper than s2000. Nice interior with great sound system. Nice exotic look in the outside. Much more rare than s2000. Newer car with better technology. Plus your insurance will be lot cheaper than s2000. since rx-8 is considered 4dr coupe.
But on the other hand, s2000 is a nice race car. Only a race car. If you know what i mean.

you just contradicted yourself by saying its still 4 banger...Evo8 and sti are 4 banger also.lol And not only that displacement on evo is smaller than s2000.
If displacement of engine seperates the class of cars, then rx-8 being 1.3l would be in same class with 68 mini cooper.

Its usually the price and hp of the car makes the class.
such as celica, intergra, eclipe-eventhough its v6, and all are in same class due to the hp and price.
I know that s2000 isn't as fast as other competitors, but there has to be worst cars from its class.

I don't know about the rotaty engine. If you want to do any modification at all with this car, please read this article first. This is for RX-7 but should also be true for the RX-8 given as well since they are both using rotaty powerplant. Don't get me wrong, I like the car but the ability to mod is something to think about. I don't want to bring my car to a shop just to put on an Intake and exhaust (since it require tuning the ecu. You will understand after reading the article). Hope it help since it help me to stay away from an RX-8 and got my Celica.

Under this situation, a momentary lean-run condition can easily lead to detonation and apex seal damage."

So what about all those RX-7s that only sport the "latest and greatest" bolt-on upgrades with no attention to ECU modifications?
although these cars seem to be perfectly functional under short to medium-term use, they are often 'ticking time bombs', waiting for the right set of circumstances to self-destruct."
