I tell you what. I got the Kaminari race wing w/Carbon Fiber and after looking it over was very un-impressed with the craftsmanship. Maybe it's just this one, but you can hear loose pieces of Fiberglass, or maybe it's Urethane inside of the spoiler. The fitment on the 2 small nubs that stick up on our rear hatch that align the stock spoiler don't align worth a shit on the KAM, and the center Carbon Fiber piece weighs a ton. I thought since it was Carbon Fiber it would be light. Man was I wrong. Plus the 2 back threaded holes weren't threaded straight so when you try to screw into them to bolt it down to the hatch the go really crooked and don't go in all the way. One other thing. The Carbon Fiber piece only bolts to the end pieces with 1 small bolt. There should be at least 2 in my opinion, if someone leans on it it will prob. just snap the Fiberglass where the bolt goes thru. I am very disappointed, anyone else feel the same??

This spoiler needs to be built as you install it... do NOT pre-assemble it or you will run into the same problems that you mentioned above.

Quick & Simple Install...

Place both end pieces onto your trunk, and use the bolts to attach - but to NOT tighten just yet

THEN insert the center wing - you will find that once you have inserted the wing, everything will line up correctly.

Now lift your trunk again and firmly tighten the two end pieces to it.

Once the the legs are installed, you will find that the center piece is held pretty firmly between the two ends... attach the end bolts at this point - and you are done thumbsup

Very easy installation, but requires an extra set of hands, especially when installing main wing componet.

...

The center piece is Fiberglass, layered with Carbon fiber - this is why it is heavy. The entire kaminari wing (both ends, center blade and hardware) is about 23 lbs - stock wing is about 12 lbs. If the wing the thin Carbon Fiber that you had expected, it would NOT be functional and would break when going at high speeds - instead of giving down-force.

...

the pieces that you hear inside the wing are Fiberglass - this sometimes happens with Fiberglass enclosures and is nothing to be worried about - when you bring the pieces for professional paint/install, the shop professional will take care of that tiny issue.

Professionals are professionals for a reason - they can do things that you probably cannot do... grin this is why it's recommended that you have all of your aftermarket products PROFESSIONALLY installed.

where did you get your wing from?
is it authentic?
kaminari has great products, i know that some of there things be produced actually had problems over time and they were not aware of that...such as bad craftmenship and fitment (the wrx race wing was cracking for people who bought it when they installed it)
but kaminari found the problem later, got rid of it and was offering people to send back their crappy product to get a perfect one
you may have gotten a faulty one

alright, well I got it on and it looks great. I guess I was talking about minor details. I noticed the bolts that hold the Carbon Fiber piece to the end plates was small. I mean it would fit and hold, but I added a washer onto it for good measure. It just seems that if someone were to apply pressure onto the Carbon Fiber piece, the head of the bolt seemed small enough to me that it would just break thru the Fiberglass. I also don't like the idea that someone can unscrew the adjustable Carbon Fiber piece and walk away with it. Yeah, yeah, what are the chances that someone is walking around with an allen wrench, but hey, it's just a thought. Why in the hell do fools steal S2K antennas?? right?? Okay well i'm not bad mounthing the company, I guess I was just expecting something different.

and if someone really wanted, they could also take the wheels (or hubcaps if you got those too) off your car - and plenty of other exterior bolt-ons... not just the antenna grin
