so im in search of buying a toyota celica gts. great, i find one with 28,000 miles on it for 14,700$
it is already a good deal, but tax+license+warranty= 17,800$
a brand new gts is fucken 23,000 with everything. i tell the seller (independent dealership) to just give me the best price he can, he gives me 300$ discount. wtf does 300$ do nowadays? im like you had a 2002 gts with trd kit with 33,000 miles on it and you sold it for 15,700 and ur giving me a 2 year older car without 2000$ kit for 14,400? hes like im only making very small profit on the car. i told him that he didnt pay over 12,000$ for the car, hes like its more than 12,000$ for him. the thing that sucks about this guy is that hes the calmest salesperson, and cheapest. he only goes down by 200$ only. then hes like i talk to the boss and see wuts the best we can do, but it wont be much of a difference. he told me that last time too and he never called and sold the car a month later for 15,700.
he has 5 celicas in less than a month, why? he says he dont make too much profit on the car, thats why you keep bringing in celicas?

conclusion: im pissed and i had to let this out. the car was leased for 4 years, lets say the lease was 300$ a month with no down payment(probably theres 1000$, but lets say no down, minimum costs). 300x48(4years)=14,400$
the car was then sold at auction, this guy is telling me his cost was 13,000$. yea right, i believe u. with his calculations, this is wut it looks like. 14,400(lease payments)+13,000(price sold at auction)= 27,400$
a brand new celica out the door is 24,000$, so dealership made that much profit? and you are stupid to buy the car for 13,000! he told me wholesale price was 13,500$, KBB whose dealer friendly has the wholesale price under 11,500$
it just sucks how much ppl can rip you off for used cars. it worst than new cars. i wish i never liked celicas or never seen them, ive been saving my money for the longest time i remember, stopped going out to save some more, and now when i wanna buy it, i get bs. it sucks that all this work is gonna go to the car, a car that ull never know wut will happen to it or when ull get sick of it. i just wish this fucker calls me tomorrow and say 16,500 out the door or less, but wishes never come true thumbsdown

i think a brand new GTS is overpriced. You probably should threaten the salesman with some money talk. Better yet, meet him face to face (if you already didn't) and start demanding.

Try everything, take every chance you have as your only chance. thumbsup

i was face to face, i basically told him that he was bs about the wholesale price, 13,000$ is not wholesale buddy, if it is, then ur stupid to buy the car and trying to sell it for profit.
i told him that he bought it for 10,500$ 11,000 max. then he said that honda civics you can buy for wholesale price, but acura gsr and celicas you cant. i told him gsr is no more in production, celica is not the hardest car to find. i also told him that kbb is dealer friendly, so when they say wholesale is 11,500$, the car was sold less than that for sure. then he comes with the other bs saying not all cars are priced the same, some are higher than the other.
man, i sound like a bitch, but 17,000 is ridiculous already for a 5 year old car. seriously, my uncle was gonna trade in his bmw if they gave him 16,000$, they offered him 14,000$. he left and two weeks later he sold the car for 21,000$

Here's the deal. I think for a used car, you'll have a higher interest rate on a loan (assuming you're getting a loan) than for a new car. Your price is already about 3/4 of a new car; you really should at least consider gettting a new car. Getting a used car from a dealer is a pain.

He is right. Plus nothing like having a brand new CELICA GTS, if you want a used car get it from a private owner, but then you run the risk of not having any warrantee.
