Well guys I misshifted her coming home last Thursday night, I bought a extended warranty but the dealer wont cover it and from what they're telling me it's not a design flaw in the celica. Guys/gals, I'm not abusive on the car nor am I irresponsible with it, it was a horrible serious mistake, I have a 2000 celica GTS 6 spd, what should I do? I'm hoping someone has or knows of someone who did something as dumb as I just did, please if anyone knows of anything please PM me or email me at celichung@hotmail.com , thanks.

it was an accident, and did you tell them you miss shifted and how bad is the damage?

What happens if you go to the redline for a little? It doesnt harm the car that bad does it? Unless you are going like 80 mphs then shifting back to 2nd, I know that would blow up your engine.

Redlining isn't that bad, worse is when you smack it into a lower gear instead of the intended higher gear. That drives the motor way into the red beyond the rev limiter because its the tranny pushing the motor. It can mean instant death to the motor & not covered by warrantee.

let me guess what happend...you were in 6th gear and you downshifted into 3rd? when i bought my 2001 GT, the mechanic told me to becareful when i downshift because they get quite a few GTS's in the garage due to downshifting into the wrong gear (he thought my car was a GTS for some reason) but anyway... i guess ur not the only one that this has happend to... i'd imagine that this would be covered under the warranty because the mechanic at the toyota dealer seemed to be a lil annoyed about haging to fix them lol. one more thing, he also told me that the computer records the RPM level and the speed of ur car. so when they hook ur ECU up to the computer and they see that ur engine speed says ur going 110MPH but ur spedometer is only saying 65... they're gonna know somethings wrong. hope this helps ya out a little bit:)

I did the exact same thing... I was screwing around though when I first got my 2k GTS... I told the dealership that I missshifted but I wasnt screwing around... They came back and told me it wasnt under warranty anytime it bends valves in red line.. I don't think you will have a chance to get this under warranty from my experince... Just hope that you only bent a few valves... I had two cylinders re-done and it cost me 800 bucks my mistake though... had to pay for it

You'll have to get a lawyer and have him send a letter to the Toyota Corperation. If your lucky like me they will pay for it. If not, then your fucked!
