i was wondering if you can paint Carbon Fiber? is it posible to paint it? do i have to like sand it out before i paint it? do i have to put primer on it. please help me out asap. thanks
Yep, but the whole "deal" with carbon fiber is that it's the finished product. If you want to paint it, just buy the same piece in Fiberglass and save yourself some money.
well i dont know were to get a raised hook scoop in Fiberglass, and im paying 60 ship for it, i think that sounds good, if its not let me know because im sending the money out today, and if there is a place to get it let me know
ive seen people paint carbon fiber...but they leave little designs on it not painted(taped up)..so after the paint dries, you peel the tape..and you have a cool tribal look..with the paint..and then carbon fiber showing on certain spots. It sounds cheesy..but i know a guy who did it to his show car(spent like 60gz on the car)its def not rice. and it seemed to compliment his car really nice. You can see pics @ http://audio-xtc.com i think
if the surface is already nice and clean and smooth just paint over it. but if it's kinda rough with liitle holes in the clear coat you might was to fill those in and sand till it's smooth. i might be painting a Carbon Fiber Hood in the future but it's used. I'm just going to wet sand it with 1500 grit sand paper them lay some coats of primer then paint, and clear coat.
oh yeah and if you can get a tack cloth, that shit saves lives. basically its a rag to wipe down areas before paint, it gets all those liitle particles on the surface without leaving any lint.
