Just installed DC header w/DYNO Results

Okay I have a 00 gts and got the dc header installed, I dynoed before and after the install. before I had the header installed there was a tiny exhaust leak right after the header, The header was installed and the leak got a lot worse my car now sounds like a little deisel truck.

here are the results from the dyno
1st run- 152.1WHP, 112.1TQ totally stock except removed butterfly
2nd run- 150.1WHP, 112.3TQ header installed
3rd run- 149.9WHP, 111.9TQ header installed

I hope this loss is due to the gasket, Anyways I have ordered a new gasket and will have it fixed by next week, and I will have a new dyno updated when i get it to see what happens. any comments or questions please post up. Oh if your in the minnesota area and need work done to your car bring it to Propulshun in St. paul they have cheap prices, AWD DYNO, and damn good work, it cost me $197.50 for the header install and 3 dyno runs I think this is a pretty good price.

Yeah, that was a good price. And don't actually expect any gains right away from the header being installed if you havn't driven at all.

I assume that they reset the ECU, and if they did, then it takes about 50 miles or so for the ECU to adjust to the mod, then you can expect to see better results.

The reason you saw a loss right away is because the exhaust backpressure was most likely reduced too greatly, topped off with the installation of a header that does nothing but reduces back pressure. Either that, or the header isn't sealed correctly.

But if I were you, I would go back in a week or so and get it dynoed once more.

To reset the ecu you just disconnect the battery right?

Yes ma'am. Do it for about 15 mins, just to make sure it's been cleared.

Any place normally does, especially for a job as big as installing a header. Key word though...normally.

Even after you reset it, it will still take a while for the ECU to draw new maps to accomidate the change. Just drive it for a while before it's dynoed again.

EDIT:

And just disconnect the negative (black) terminal. Not necessary to do the red one. It's a pain in the ass also.

yeah big leak = bad lol

most places here charge $45 for 3 runs so you paid what $150 for 3 hours labor? thats not too bad. hopefully its just the gasket causing the leak.

also your before dyno will be off as well since it had a slight leak as well.

yeah, keep us informed of your independent dyno results...

hopefully the gains improve as the ecu adjusts and the leak is fixed...

okay finally everything put back together, first I called the dealer and they wanted like $65 for the gasket so I went to a local parts store and got it for $15, but at first they ordered the wrong one so that took like a week then they finally ordered the new one and it was the wright one, I went back to propulshun in ST. Paul and they put the gasket in for absolutely free how awesome I love this shop. Unfortunatley they were to busy to any dynos though, so I will be back on soon with nore dyno results. althought I will have the header, Injen CAI and Hayme exhaust installed.

yeah the gasket was totally wasted that is why I had a tiny leak to begin with and taking the header apart just made it worse.

I hate to be pessimistic, but that header is a piece of junk. If I had the time to install it my self then it may be worth the problems and/or low whp gains. There is no way that header is going to put out 10 WHP. Other than that it's not worth it. Too many problems, no dyno times before and after (excluding this case), and a cheap product (under $300 and cheap produced). Most here would assume gains on heresay alone and a cheap price on a new header so let's get it. That leaves me questioning and there fore staying far away.
