I have noticed that the variable lift does not kick in when the engine is cold. Once the engine is warm the variable lift kicks in as usual. Is this normal? Sorry I haven't been posting lately, but I have had problems with my back for about the past two months. They shot an MRI of my back and I have a slipped disc. We do not know when I actually did the damage, but my family believes that the new Celica with its low seating aggravated the problem. This might be true, but my physical therapist and doctor say it shouldn't be a problem. The back problem got worse while going through physical therapy. They shot up my sciatica nerve with steroids yesterday, and hopefully that will help things. I am not giving up the Celica!!

Good way to mess up your car in a hurry.

You won't mess up you're car driving it cold and hitting lift. That's why so many people complain about the low rev limiter or not hitting lift at all. It's a saftey precaution. No harm done. I personaly never have done it other than once and never again because of my own reasons. I'm always one to warm up my celica 1-3 or more minutes in the Summer or above 60% temps. and at least 10-15 minutes in the winter 40% temps. and below. I just want the engine temps to get up and the oil to flow before I start on my stop, go, and gun it route to work. I also have a cool down routine. That's for later if asked.

Yeah, over time you will mess up your car doing that.

Honestly slidr who would be enough of a retarded mother f****r to do the cold starts and gun it to that cut off over and over. It would be like bringing your car to the fuel cutoff (warmed up) and hitting the rev limiter over and over. No one is that stupid. Once, twice, "Three times a lady" won't due any harm.

Its always a good idea to warm up your vehicle to operating temperature before you leave the driveway or at least before you rev over 3K. Your oil needs to warm up & become more fluid & your engine parts are machined to work at operating temperature.
