Ok i was wonderin i found a website call www.fibreglast.com [fibreglast.com] they sell millions of fiber glass stuff, but doesnt tell how to make it, can you buy some type of Fiberglass as a whole and just put it on your car, or do you have to mix Stuff, i have never actually seen a real explanation about Fiberglass, i think that if sumone helped me figure out how to make it then i could purchase this stuff and make Fiberglass and doo lots of my own work with that stuff...can anyone tell me what to buy to start out on molding on ground effects or filling in dents and stuff, i mean anything that has to do with Fiberglass i wanna learn how to use it, and i wanna learn fast, so i wanna find out, then purchase it off the net or a nearby place and mix it up and start working, kuz there are some really cheap cars with minor infractions and with general Fiberglass knowledge then i could buy some and resale em for more, and i could design my own body kit for my car...

thanks

any help will do

Making stuff out of Fiberglass isnt that hard... You gotta mix resin and hardener and just soak Fiberglass into it...

Making bumper out of Fiberglass tho (DIY) that's a lot of work tho...

But anywayz, here's my little project

Well, I'll just explain some steps very simply..
1. get stuff prepared (lots of masking tape, object that you gonna get a molding out of, vinyl to cover work area, etc)
2. mask tape the object completely (at least 3 layers of masking tape)
3. start Fiberglassing. Add about 3 layers and take out that thing you took the molding out of... Keep adding layers -> about 5~7 layers will be strong enough (the reason you have to take the molding is so that your Fiberglass object will have a perfect fitment)
4. Let your imagination take over grin
5. after you think you have a good shape, try to sand-off(not relaly sand paper kinda job but...) so that it's livable... For me, after this process, I add bondo and sand it so that it's perfectly smooth.. and color it afterward.

here's some link that may help you

For 50 bucks... your not gonna get far... unless you jack a whole roll of Fiberglass from engineering department at the university... along with 2 gallon of resin and bout half a liter of hardener...

no those are the prices that i already got at the store. so thats what im gonna get for that much...i figure that should be enough for my first project...fix a dent or 2 in my car, and then door panels, and the my Hatch Project.

8 ft of Fiberglass will be like a foot of Fiberglass once you put resin and put about 3 layers... That ball itself is like about 12 ft x 1 ft roll... trust me... 8ft of Fiberglass will not get you the outcome that you want... from 8 ft, it will be too thin that it'll crack when you twist it...

I personally like Fiberglass cloth because it's easier to control...
but chop mat's very useful too...

for which one's better? it all depends on what ur doing...

I seriously think starting "fiberglass project" for your car is just wa~y out of question at this time because...
1) you are going to make mistakes... which will cause you more problem.,...
2) if you mess up, you gonna be losing tonz of money...
3) you gonna have tonz of bubbles inside Fiberglass which ... will make it bad quality...

Just start out doing small things... none of the dents or panels...

Try taking a mold out of something you dont need... (like 1 ft by 1 ft) once your comfortable w/ it... do it for your car... Im just giving you my 2 cents cuz... you gonna be making mistakes and I pretty much think ... you gonna come on to the forum and start crying bout it...

sorry... im not trying to be a dick or anything... but it just sound like ur going with a pulse... you got your interior painted... now you feel like you wanna do Fiberglass... Ur just hasting little too much... just think and plan well and practice before you do anything to the car...

well just my advice:
tape the panel really well and add about extra 3 ~ 4 layers so that you know resin wont go through... lay cloth (because I like cloth more than chopped pieces) and take the mold out... and Fiberglass over it
...

thats exactly what i was planning to do, i was gonna do it in this order...

1. Clean area with cleaner (Very Well).
2. 3 Layers of Masking Tape
3. 1 Layer of Tin Foil
4. Plastic Garbage Bags taped around door sill
5. apply 2-4 layers of Resin and let dry.
6. Apply Weave Fibers
7. Apply 2-4 more layers.
8. let dry
9. REMOVE
10. Cover with Fleece
11. 2 more layers. (let dry)
12. Sand out ruff spots...
13. Body Fill it.
14. Sand body filler
15. Paint...

thats my 15 step plan...i think it should work good...
