Why the heck did you ask the dealer about the stereo?!?!

NEVER have the dealer install mods of any sort. And besides, a good audio store knows 100x more than the dealer does. They make conversion kits that will work for any type of car thumbsup

Aftermarket audio decks will fit. And the ones that don't need an install kit, which is like $20 at an audio store. Why you would ask the dealer about aftermarket stuff is beyond me. I try to stay away from them. eek thumbsdown

The answer to your question is yes -no matter what head unid brand- just get a Wire Harness (toyota '86 & up) @ your local autoparts ($12-$15) wave

I installed myself (w/o a lot of experience happywink ) Sony Xplod CDX-M630 & CDX-757MX 10 MP3/CD Changer within 1hr for $15 !!! grin rofl

The celica wiring is "standard" or -however you want to call it!-

ive noticed there new generation of P5s (have some installed) are decent, Sony is probably noticing that they were heading the wrong direction in the car audio department. plus my Pioneer head unit makes them sound bomb laughsilly
