If your engine light comes on, do this first

find and clean your mass air flow sensor (I think its in the Intake somewhere) - my car wasn't accelerating smoothly, and it was stalling - I took it to the dealer, and they charged me $80 to clean my sensor..

they may have told you one thing and really had done something else... like just tightened your gas cap (a loose gas cap could turn your CEL on) grin
