GT & GTS Tranny's are interchangable & have the exact same bolt pattern! This guy grant bolted a 2003 2ZZ motor to a 2001 1ZZ 5Speed (which he had already invested money into upgrading). He knows his stuff, he was running the 1ZZ Turbo'd and had an engine failure. Now he is running the 2ZZ converted to DBW, but still using his old tranny. He sold the Turbo kit.

thats too bad cause the 5spd is not good for the 2zz. also dont know why he would intentionally switch to DBW. but eh something is better than nothin.

Because he would have needed a 3rd donor vehicle to get a non DBW GTS setup.

dunno about the specific year because the 00-01 tranny's had closer gates, i happen to know it will work as a direct swap for a gt 5sped for pre 02 tranny's, you dont even have to change out the cables or shifter housing.

however its unknown on the 02 and up tranny's if they'll fit on a gt due to the wider gates and longer cables.

I'm thinking if you just hit it with a hose and scrubbed a little that car will be perfectly fine. Okay, so there are a few scratches and apparently it's now missing a motor. What am I? To good to push it?

If nothing else, rip the seats out and sell 'em. I bet you can make a good 250 for the both of 'em.

By swapping a GTS tranny into a GT you are just wasting time and money. Sure you'll rev a little lower at highway speeds, but is it really worth the effort. Just get a GTS. Hello, 6th gear is a cruising gear. No much for acceleration.

that and since the gearing is alittle closer, you'll probably accelerate just a little faster...only problem is that the 2zz tranny is supposedly weaker than the 1zz 5 speed

you obviously haven't driven a gt 6speed, if you have you wouldn't say that wink

Hello. They make all the gear ratios closer in a 6-speed. grin

5spd + 2zz = bad

6spd + 1zz = good (especially on a boosted one) thumbsup

What About the engine management? Would you need a GTS ECU?

What other parts would one need besides the Transmission itself. Would one require all the shifter linkage and clutch assembly from a GTS?

Well all the trannies are interchengeble from the gt and gts.
But gts has a shorter gearing, means you will lose top speed and top speed in each gears.
I tried the gts tranny on my car and my top speed is 220kmh compared to the GT 270kmh I had. 5 speed gt tranny went up to 240kmh ( then governor as it was a US spec). So it fits for your need. If you like more shifts or better top speed, there will be allways a good mix of the tranny and the engine.
But US gts owners have the shortest ratios, so there is no shorter option beside the c-one gearset.

Sure I will!! wink
On the head, I did not update much just the springs. I want to spend some time on it, but just short on time. I have ordered the gt28rs and once it gets her sure I will update the whole head. It seems that we will offer that Turbo for the gts and an upgrade for the gt kit. So I m waiting for some more parts. I will post for sure. thumbsup
