Hello,

My GTS rattles in the back. Happens when I drive over bumps or when I have my music too loud. What do you think could be causing this? I know that it could be many numbers of things, but if people would be kind enough and toss ideas, I can check them off one by one.

Thanks!

Check the screws on your rear license plate. If they are loose, 95% chance it's that. Otherwise, it's likely your gas lid. Stuff a sock or paper towels in there (no, not kidding). thumbsup

I would say that it is the license plate frames but I do not have a frame. I should try tightening the screw, is there like a rubber washer or something that I should use?

The hatch, that might be it, any ways to prevent that sucker from rattling?

As for the gas lid, would it rattle that much?

I was really thinking is that piece of plastic that is placed in the trunk to hold items, I do not know what it is called. But is there a way to make sure that thing is screwed on tight instead of relying on those little push in screws?

I read on other sites that people have placed some adhesive felt around the hatch (where it sits against the actual trunk) so it has a cusion effect when it moves up and down.

check to see if its anything in your spare tire well. Like maybe the lug wrench came loose. Or your jack could be loose too.

it could also be the sway bar ratting against the heat shield (especially if you have hotchkis sways).

Open your hatch, on the sides of the hatch lining, check these rubber things for signs of wear...

CSHERIFF i have the same problem, rear passenger.at first i thought it was my seat belt thing hitting off the plastics, but it's not. i took out the hatch/trunk cover thing, still makes the noise. so it's not that, i took out the thing that goes between our trunk and rear seats, it's not that either, i'm thinking maybe what STEVEN said, maybe those are dry rotted kinda and the friction causes noise. if that doesn't work i'm going to keep taking the rear plastics out until i catch it!

You've already got the RF amp, go ahead and put some subs in and another amp. It would just be an excuse to dynamat your car anyway. Or if dynamat is too expensive, find some fatmat instead. thumbsup
