also is anyone here with an auto getting the TBKO Shift Kit-it's like 150 and it's available in 2 weeks. they say it makes the auto shift closer to a manual...hmmm. well just wondering and let us know how it turns out ok?

i've heard of the 3zz engine before but im not really sure how they did it..i guess it's a combo of the 1zzfe and the 2zzge..it has a lower compression compared to the 2zzge so you can add more boost on turbo applications..

i've neve heard of the TBKO shift kit confused

I believe the 3ZZ-GE is actually a 1ZZ-GE with upgraded rods and pistons. The toyota Levin in Japan carries it (me thinks).

idk but i don't think it was the 3zz that you can drop into a celica. It is another motor.

the 3zz is a hybrid of the 1 and 2zz. It can't be used in the US because our highest octane rating is 93, it needs something above 100 octane to run properly. The shift kit is used to get a quicker shift out of an auto tranny. It's not a mod that is to be left on at all times as it can wear out a tranny. It has an on/off switch so you can turn it on when racing.

so basicly you would need to be running jet fuel because of the octane rating?

I believe there is a shop in New York that is working on putting a 3ZZ kit together while tuning with 91-92 octane.

Its very expensive also, I think you have to supply them a GTS engine + 6000 to mod it. You'll end up with 13.1 compression ratio and some other stuff I don't remember right now. Theres always turbo...

the 3zz is a STROKER kit which means that the kit increases the displacement to make it a 2.0 Liter engine with 2zz and 1zz internals. eek

True, the celica is hard to build up potential. I wasn't aware of this issue when I bought the car nor have I planned to go that far with the car in modding. I'm going to save my $$$ and pull out a loan for a 2005 STi, 350z, new supra?, new Lexus IS430(V8?) or whatever else is available. I want to step things up with a bad ass project car in the next 5 years or so. thumbsup

I don't know about it working on the 1zz head and block. I think it is the 2zz block with 1zz internals like crank and rods so it increases the 2zz displacement. Not very sure on the specifics

the 3-zz is the stroker kit. Trial makes it. i believe they have a company in texas or something they also have them in japan. its juss like and engine replacement or engine swap.you can upgrade it from a 1-zz or 2-zz and still get a 3-zz engine upgrade.

kinda off topic but...If any 3S-GTE would fit into the 7th gen celica it would be the ST215 that the Caldina (aka Japanese 4WD Toyota Matrix) The Caldina(non-turbo) shares the same drivetrain as the Matrix , which is close to the Celica(correct???). But the transmission you would have to get from a V6 solera cause of the parts difference and hybrid drive shafts would have to be used (probably solera inners, with celica/caldina outer)
just a thought grin
ok it was really off topic.sorry grin

The 3S-GTE won't "fit" into the 7th generation, theres fabrication of motor mounts and all that stuff, I could put a supra engine in my celica if I wanted to, but it won't bolt right in, now what i mean? It has been done before and you can have the shop that did it here in Florida for about 10g's. Somebody back me up on this, but didn't Toyota make a 3zz-fe totally different from this stroker kit Trial makes?
It made like 105hp or something??

The shift kit increases transmission fluid pressure resulting in quicker harder shifts. It's still prototyping last time I checked.
