can an insurance company really only have a limit as to how much they'd pay for damages??

like my sisters car... our insurance is telling us that the party that hit us is only going to cover up to $10,000

Is that really true?? I mean say that party hit a new Murcilago at a blue book value cost close to $300k.. heck if 10,000 would cover much..

no thats not true, you have to talk to them, if your damage is over there amount, then more then likely the company will try to get out of it, with a lot of lies. so they will cover it no matter how high it is, they actually have to.

This is why all states have limits for coverage. In California, the limits are 15/30/5. That's 15k per person, 30k per accident, 5k for property damage. Believe it or not, MANY people carry this. You hit a 95 Civic and total it with that coverage, everyone is already SOL. That's why there are SO many lawsuits.

And yes, 90% of people on these boards and everywhere else are underinsured, especially for property damage.

Say that's fine, give me the 10G's & sue for the rest.
